09/10 Budget Impact on PRes - Unit stand-downs, Class B Freeze, and so on!

To add to that, if you were to apply to any civilian part time job that advertised a certain amount of hours a week or something to that effect, and they fell short, how could you blame people for leaving that job and finding another? They need to pay their bills somehow. Its unfortunate, but...

    How to motivate the unmotivated

Did they really put their thinking hats on though, or was it pretty standard stuff? In the end, it was still a frontal, enemy straight to the front and so on. Perhaps expand the arcs to 180o minimum, if possible, and bump the section completely from the flank. I've ran into a situation like that...

    How to motivate the unmotivated

Indeed, challenge does also require variety. There's other ways to be challenged aswell though, besides the physical. Put the troops in scenarios where they have to think on their feet. I find that it is difficult to do this with live fire section attacks. I see. I understand that it can come...

    How to motivate the unmotivated

The way I see it, the army is meant to be more than a job. If you dont challenge the troops, make them feel like it is more than a job, then all it becomes is a job for them. Different than sweeping isles at Farm boy, but a job none the less, and they'll treat it as "just a job". For a...

    How to motivate the unmotivated

Perhaps he truely doesnt find such a thing challenging. Or maybe he doesnt find it challenging the way he needs to be challenged? Live fire section attacks, with or without grenades, are still section attacks. Its not challenging the same way as other training can be. (Im trying not to get too...

    How to motivate the unmotivated

The training may be cool, but I dont necessairly believe that is challenging. Either way, that would be straying from the topic. That very well may work, if the soldier doesnt believe it's a bluff. Thats good, but there reaches a certain point when they have to realise they're are...

    How to motivate the unmotivated

I hear those suggestions often, and it may work for some individuals but not others. Personally, based on your description of the guy, he has the skill, the knowledge and the LCF... maybe what he needs is the BCF, the "Be Cool Factor" to bring him back, as in, he needs to accomplish something...

    How to motivate the unmotivated

I see a few people say "Show him the door". What exactly do you mean? Kick him out? I dont see how that's possible.

09/10 Budget Impact on PRes - Unit stand-downs, Class B Freeze, and so on!

That may maintain the skillset for those soldiers that are dedicated and will volunteer their time to do so. Maintaining the skillset is only part of the problem though. A lot of people rely on Class A as their source of income. If the PRes can not provide them the income they require to...

Experience differences between training women and men

Its not about giving people slack at all. You dont give them slack, you still expect the same out of them. Definitly not, but there are cases in which you instruct a smaller class, or have some one on one time with the candidates.

Experience differences between training women and men

Just to throw in my own two cents... When it comes down to it, I also dont think there should be any training differences between men and women. I think that any good instructor and leader will know his troops/candidates, know their strengths and weaknesses and know how they will learn best...

    Definition of Voluntary Reserve Service

Whoops, I meant CMP 20/04, not CBI 20/04

    Definition of Voluntary Reserve Service

I'm just reading my statement of understanding for my contract and I'm wondering if anyone could clarify what the exact definition of "Voluntary Reserve Service" is, particularly pertaining to CBI 20/04 section 2.13.

Temporary Duty ( TD ) merged

Ok. And just to clarify, is it TD or the high rate that I'm eligible for or is it both?

Temporary Duty ( TD ) merged

Depends how high you go... Why does it matter? And again, Im told the CFTDI doesnt apply to me so they wont accept it as a reference.

Temporary Duty ( TD ) merged

CounterDC, I've got a question. To whom does the CFTDI apply to? I just braught up everything to my Chain of Command and they told me that that reference is irrelevant because the CFTDI doesnt apply to me (due to me not being on TD).

Temporary Duty ( TD ) merged

Ok, thanks a lot CountDC. Now, these MTECs, they give you the high rate? Does this still apply after that 60 calendar days you mentionned in your previous post?

Temporary Duty ( TD ) merged

When I accepted the job, I accepted it being in city A. Half way through my contract (not even actually) it got moved to City B, which is 100km away from city A. In that case, the employing unit would be Ottawa and the 1000km would constitute his normal commute, no?

Temporary Duty ( TD ) merged

That is exactly how I interpreted the reference. I've been researching the subject since February and that is the conclusion I came to. I'm not sure how do procede from here, as I dont think the MTEC would get anywhere. They'll tell me that I'm not eligible for high rate because I'm not on TD...
