    Smoking in General

You cannot smoke in Vernon at all.  Staff (officers) must smoke out of the view of cadets and anyone caught smoking anywhere, even in town, means RTU or extras or something.  I thought this was standard at all CSTCs

    What do you think?

I think it depends on the corps.  I believe than having a camp qualification does definately help with getting much needed experience if a cadet shows that he is responsible, a good leader and deserves a promotion then go ahead and give it to him

    What do you think?

camp is an excellent thing for gaining experience.  I learned so much during my time at VACSTC the knowlege is invaluble.  Some camp time should be expected for certain positions.

    staff cadet kit

Not Cadpat we're wondering about CADETpat but I think now that if your not allowed to bring your own OD combats Cadetpat would fall into the same category right? You are allowed to wear a cadpat camelback as long as you wear it with your canteen, which is what I was told last year I'm not sure...

Why do they rig sheers in sea cadets?

It seems as though there is alot of things people learn that they think is useless.  When I was learning my knots and lashings i thought that it was lame and that I would never have to use it, but I was suprised at how handy that skill was. But knowing this doesnt change some peoples attitude...

    Weapons Training

It took just one person to make a mistake to make the whole program change.  My uncle was a cadet in the 70's and some of the stories i've heard were pretty surprising.  Cadets getting to fire many round of ammunition from the FNs and .303's and the such.  Although I've never heard of any cadet...

    D&C BLEAKEYS

I agree.  Whats so good about them anyway?  If you want to keep them on join the drill team just as Pongo said.  Just do what your CO says and stop complaining

awh come on cant anybody enjoy a joke?  Obviously we're not on the range fantasizing about blowing Vietcong into oblivion or bayonetting Herman it was just a joke some friends of mine made in a mod tent a long time ago  ::)

    Weapons Training

hehe interesting, when i took Riflecoach last year we unofficially call our targets "Herman the German" but they are still the official cadet targets.  We just made sure the officers didnt hear us when we were inside the mod tent at the range, talking about all the lead we pumped into Herman.  ;D

    Para... Advance Training...

Our RSM did MLE and she said it was pretty good, alot of touring but some training as well.  Platoon ambushes, they got issued a rifle that they had to stay within 1 meter of, and lots of patrols.  It sounds like something that would be better for someone whose not in Rambo shape.  We all...

Thats right, they have to meet very strict guidelines too, as demonstrated with the shutting down of the Vernon large bore range last year. :-\

I believe they do those at CFB Chiliwack too, Didn't Steven Harper say he re-opended it?

    Para... Advance Training...

Yeah the German ex sounds pretty dificult.  Having angry reg force members screaming at you is bad but having angry German reg force members yelling at you must be worse.  I remember talking with a former German soldier when I was there last year and they sound well....scary But then again I'd...

    staff cadet kit

How would they run out of ODs?  Dont they re-use and re-use and re-use?  The set I got when I was in CL were ghost white, and see thru since they were so old.  I dont know if they'd switch over to the cadetpat.  It seem s a bit expensive for bulk buying and the sizing could be an issue as well. ...

    staff cadet kit

Thats what I thought to, but then again they gave it to the CSMs in Vernon this year, but then again that meant that ALL the CSMs had it, giving them uniformity, I'll ask my CO and post the answer as soon as i get it.  :salute:  <---- anyone else notice hes saluting with the wrong hand? oh well.
