How good is the side arm?

Nothing lasts forever. Now while I prefer polymer framed auto pistols the BHP is and will remain an effective pistol for years to come. The fact that they are still being made and sold to consumers despite all of the other options on the market shows their continued relevance today. The...

    Where to buy a C-7 (AR-15...)???

Touchy, touchy. I have nothing against Dlask, as I said they make some nice stuff. Their prices are comparable to other manufacturers of similar quality, so you get what you pay for (a quality AR clone).

    Air Force's CADPAT name-tag & rank

If we can have red and white flags why not garrison name and rank as well? Crazy I know, but it might just work.

Has anyone tried the NORINCO M14

My friend bought a Norinco knock off and for $650 including the glass stock the value can't be beat. Shoots fine and thats what really matters.

    Dutch Apaches

Interesting that the last army cobras were replaced by kiowas. http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/oh-58.htm

    Dutch Apaches

Perhaps I should have made my cost point a little clearer. IMO the cost of operating a fleet comprised of 4-5 specific and complex aircraft will be disproportionately high compared to the benefit to Canadian soldiers in the field.   If we are going to join the anti armour helo gunship club...

    Dutch Apaches

While having Apaches in our inventory would be "cool" it is for the most part an anti armour weapon system and as we are not facing down any large armoured forces it would be employed for the most part as a Reece aircraft. Cost wise we would be better off spending the acquisition and maint money...

Another view of the Thoughts of Al Quaida

Seems like the same reason Christianity took off like a structure fire in Rome. The promise of an afterlife with the ability to earn a place in Heaven.  A little bit of history repeating, again? Or is that just me being a crazy left wing nut?

Terrorists See Canada As Perfect Destination......

Puts me in BC which might explain why am more concerned about Asia than the Middle East, call me crazy.  Sorry I forgot about half of the country lets just chalk it up to Eastern alienation.

Terrorists See Canada As Perfect Destination......

If I wanted to live in fear of everything I would move south of the 49th until then I will live my life secure in the knowledge that I have a better chance of winning the lottery than coming anywhere close to being killed or wounded by a terrorist. I am more concerned about drunk drivers, house...

    Swedish "Para" MAG

If you were to read the book "On killing" you might have a better grasp of why the army is trying it stick optics on every small arm.

China achieves ICBM ability to strike US

Reverse engineering software for the F-16 would be important to the Chinese for what reason? It is a totally different aircraft. It would make as much sense as Chev trying to use copies of Ford engine management computers in their cars on the basis of a car is a car is a car.  Now...

    Individual Meal Pack (IMP) [Merged]

I would rather have a packet of baked cherry desert tucked into the front of my Tacvest than some fruit cocktail waiting to leak all over me. Besides I like the taste, though am still waiting for them to start putting Cliff bars in some of the meals.

The Agent Orange and Its Repercussions Thread

My father server in Vietnam for two tours as part of an exchange program. The sick thing is that while he was never exposed to the defoliants in Vietnam he was exposed by our government in Gagetown. Birth defects are also covered by the VA in the states, Canada should follow the same policy.

    MLVW Replacment?

The MILCOTS has limited use in "certain" disaster relief scenarios. Kind of like the Iltis was of limited use in a great deal of situations such as medical evac and resupply. Apples and oranges.

What should I use for etching onto my kit?

For $25 you can buy a carbide tipped engraver at most places like house of tools. It plugs into the wall with a cord and will etch anything softer than tungsten carbide so it will work on everything but diamond. I have also used it to mark all my tools and home electronics. Money well spent IMHO.

    Sniper/Long Range Rifles

Beautiful rifle, almost makes punching holes in a paper plate at 1000m boring. At $6- $13 a round it is not the cheapest weapon to feed. Keep that in mind if you are planning on buying one.

    21 April 2005 - GDF 005 Twin 35mm guns will be retired

If we combined our Leo chassis and the 35mms we would have a very potent weapon system on a well protected (if difficult to ship) platform. Oh wait the Germans already have them.
