    What's your background?

I do as well but people always look at me like "really"? Growing up it never made sense to me when people would doubt me or feel like I was confused.

    What's your background?

Never seen either show but I can imagine what those classes were like. If they're anything like what retail does annually I can only imagine the groans in the room.

    What's your background?

I'm curious as to the backgrounds of those who post here. When I say background I mean where you trace your roots, whether you were born in Canada etc. For myself I have always identified as Canadian with Guyanese background; my parent's were born and raised there but I was born here. I found...

The Sinking of the Canadian Navy - Macleans

Despite all this we somehow are able to produce excellent soldiers, sailors and airmen. That, in itself, is amazing. I won't get into what I think about the article as many of the posters above me have done a good job in doing just that but I like to think that the organization I am applying to...

New CDS Gen. Jonathan Vance (split fm CDS spec thread)

How much of a politician does a CDS have to be? When I say politician I mean minding what one says, being mindful of his role on the public stage etc?

Pension Transfer Value / Lump Sum Pymt [Merged]

Can I ask if you're looking to retire completely or are you looking into EMS type work?

    Joining The Infantry

Thought I'd kickstart this thread again as Infantry is hiring a lot this year and many members and guests are applying. I was wondering if anyone can shed light on the current state of Regular Force Infantry? I'm curious as to where BMQ graduates are being sent to, how often DP 1 courses are...

What keeps or kept you in the CAF?

I like to think, being 28 years old, I'll retire with the military knowing that I've worked and reached my potential in my field as a civilian. I see the CAF as a challenge in that it'll be a radical lifestyle change that'll force me to be at the top of my game if I want to reach as high as I...

What book are you reading now?

Just started re-reading Stephen King's "The Stand" which, too me, is his greatest novel. I first read it when I was 13 and wanted to revisit this given its been 15 years.

What keeps or kept you in the CAF?

When you say postings do you mean to a base or mission? I'm curious about whether being from a big city and then being sent to a base like Shilo or Gagetown makes a soldier's time in tougher. For myself, being from Toronto, I'd like to be sent to Edmonton but I'm also prepared for places like...

What keeps or kept you in the CAF?

Is it like that in Infantry? That's the trade I'm going into and figured the bond in the Combat Arms are typically the strongest.

Tattoo Thread - including current policy [MERGED]

To update you all my re-enrollment waiver has been granted and my medical files were sent to Ottawa and returned and looks good to go. Still no word on my tattoo waiver as my MCC stated he hasn't heard anything yet.

What keeps or kept you in the CAF?

Could you elaborate on that? I would think the bonding that people go through and the sense of family you develop with your section mates etc would make one want to remain in the CAF.

What keeps or kept you in the CAF?

    Yeah that sums it up.
