    combat service support getting wings?

Also not true, CFLAWC just ran another PRes Basic Para of which at least one soldier from the G&SF was on it. As was already stated it is more difficult to get things like a Basic Para, but it happens.  I asked for 7 years to get a jump course and was finally in the right place at the right...

Things to do in Australia ?

Three days after the original post and no one has thrown out the "throw another shrimp on the barbie" as a thing to do?  Man... people gettin' old on here.

    Personal Story

365 days exactly after our son passed away.  He is often in our thoughts and we still wonder what little milestones and actions he would be doing at this point to make us chuckle and see his personality developing.  Today is especially hard for my wife because as I said earlier she is a heart on...

RPAS (was JUSTAS): the project to buy armed Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAVs

Yer funny, I like you.  Forgot it was "tell a joke Thursday".

"Never Pass a Lie" and other moral/ethical scenarios

I didn't take Kirkhill's example of him be-friending the troops, I understood it that he didn't lie to them.  Honesty and integrity are vital to the job, and lying to your soldiers so that you can get a better turn-out at a community event tasking is no way to operate in the CAF.

If America adopts Canada's health care system

Nail firmly hit on the head. My wife and I have had many a discussion about healthcare and we like to think we're reasonably informed when it comes to when it would be required to go to the hospital E.R. and when we can sort the issue out at home.  I think your "entitlement" statement is bang...

    US Navy's Carrier Gap (merged)

Who is going to step up though?  Everyone is cutting back on everything, and while I would love to see Canada have a carrier task force it's not in the cards anytime soon and likely never will be. I too agree that the West as a whole needs to get it's collective butt in gear and stop being...

    Segregation in Messes

To link in with the "Do officers do physical work?" thread - http://forums.army.ca/forums/threads/111664/post-1248543/topicseen.html#new I view putting butter on my toast as physical work and delegate that job to my batman, and if the mood hits me he puts strawberry jam on my toast as well.

"Never Pass a Lie" and other moral/ethical scenarios

To echo what many have said, loyalty is something that goes up and down.  If you lie in any direction then your credibility as a soldier and/or a leader is gone and you may never get it back. When it comes to passing on an undesirable task or direction it's just like receiving orders I found. ...

Review of Canadian History & Emphasis of Canadian Military Heritage

The flaw I potentially see in some of these arguments is where the authors talk about and condemn how the Conservatives are trying to change how we view ourselves, but in the same breath talk about how Canada has changed over the last few decades and we need to be open and aware of this.  Change...

Big military games release this fall

Most likely going to be BF4, but from everything I've seen so far it appears to be very similar to BF3 with a new plot line and slightly better graphics.

    The Defence Budget [superthread]

Excellent well rounded post/presentation E.R. I agree that many of these things are in the attitude and implementation of a high level of expectation/discipline/work by Officers and SrNCO's.  A thread I'm reminded of in regards to training is here on army.ca where it was asked for ideas on...

    Humour My Ignorance...

Unfortunately I don't have a lot to add to this discussion due to my distance from the jump company's and their day to day operations and how they are organized, but I am intrigued at the points being brought forward.  From the PRes stand point though it is difficult to stay current.  For...

    Packing for the Apocalypse

Agreed Jim, but why not ramp it up a little so you have more reach to deal with the undead horde. From the description, "Find yourself backed into a corner with the undead on the move? Grab your Gator Pro. It has an aggressive, multi-purpose blade that can be used as an axe, a machete, or knife...
