This is Army.ca. An Army defends its nation. If you want to minimize/rationalize/moralize (and when you insist on describing all the "good aspects" of being forcibly annexed, you are minimizing, rationalizing and moralizing the annexation) or otherwise argue that Canada should not resist a...
If we figure out a way to hybridize PS and PRes service for specific roles, that would make sense. We don't need the day-to-day GS sustainment to be military on the day-to-day, but it would need to be something that could be mobilized at the same time as the equipment that it supports.
Neither the post you quoted nor your post discussed fighting for Canada. You quoted a complete post saying that Canadians should have a right to choose before being annexed, and you called that idea "abstract fluff." You then went on to promote why you would be content to be lebensraum'ed by the...
He has provided his list of why he would be content to be Lebensraum'ed in the thread on Trump's hostility to Canada. Let's not pollute more threads with the nonsense.
If it is wrong, why can you not touch on the subject of annexation without trying to sell all its "merits"?
We are much less binary than the US, and seats are won by thrid & forth party candidates as well as independants. That is much better than the US, but I recall you were a strong proponent...
Canada & Denmark are functioning democracies. This is not freeing peoples from oppressive or dysfunctional governments. The context of US annexing Canada or Greenland is 100% in favour of that being an act of evil.
"It's bad, but we should not resist, and let me tell you why it would actually...
On 04 May 2025, Trump himself said that he might use a military invasion to take Greenland. If a White House announcement of the same information surprises you in Jan 2026, you have not been paying attention.
Okay, so anschluss is not inherently bad and it depends on context, people do not have right to a voice before their country is annexed by another, and you might defend Canada from some countries but you will defend rolling-over for the one country that actually could invade. You seemingly...
... is that wanting self-determination before being forcibly absorbed into another country is "abstract fluff" and "hand-waving at cloud-shaped diagrams". Yes, those were your words. You have made clear, not only that you would not fight for Canada, but that you don't see American anschluss as...
Maybe that was true when the country was a still functioning democracy without an authoritarian oligarchy at the helm. Of course, back then the country would not threaten an ally with annexation (militarily or otherwise).
Imposing a union on a people is evil. Forcibly annexing land is evil...
It is interesting that the folks who rushed to call the possibility of a MAGA military intervention in a NATO nation a sign of a "mind virus" and a "conspiracy theory" with zero probability of happening are the same folks who later rationalized Trump's global tariff war as "tough love." Those...
Who is the “grown up table” in the UCP, and do you really expect they will stop setting conditions for separation while denying they are separatists if there is a referendum result that supports staying in Canada?
Maybe the whole how we harden Canada & the Canadian economy discussion can be had in a thread about Canada? The US abduction of Maduro has implications for Canada, but it's not about Canada and the mods had already attempted one thread split to get this back on track.
And what would be the impact on courts within a nation that has recent precedent that anything done by a president is legal if it was done officially as president?

Hey, if US track record is any indicator then Trump can realize all his oil ambitions in 30ish years, within which will need a 20 year counter insurgency war.
I think you may be making a series of assumptions here. However, the Trump admin has shown it will use conjecture & imagination to justify various sorts of behaviours. So I agree that all countries in the Americas should be concerned about a now more likely US military violations of sovereignty.
