    Our Great GG.

Before all the yahoo's s forget it out there, and until there is a change, the GG is The Head of State of Canada, and head of The Armed Forces. Do you expect her to represent Canada by flying Air Canada and traveling by Volkswagen? This is typical partisan politics and knee jerk reaction...

    Comd commendation probs??

Commendations are for mbrs who perform acts that reflect the good of the service (ie saving a life, organizing food drives etc). The higher the commendation, the greater the good that is reflected. Bravery medals on the other hand involve some form of personal sacrifice, so the example of the...

A question for the gunners in Shilo-Why Are You Called "The Regiment?"

Our Branch is The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery (why we have a common hat badge), whereas for example, the Infantry Bn/Regt belong to the Infantry Corps. This has been perpetuated from the RA and I think it is by Royal Decree. Unlike other branches, Artillery are perpetuated by Batteries...

    FOO vs. FOO Tech

The tech doesn't correct, just either agrees or disagrees. He is there as the double check. As well he is the FOOs second set of eyes. Technically, both know OPs fire discipline, theory of indirect fire, and can shoot. The FOO has greater depth on the support and coordination role. The FOO is...

"Of course you know, this means war!!!"

The trick is to lobby the right people. The soft lumber is costing a segment of the US consumers money. Get them up in arms. I was in Alabama not long ago, and they were complaining about the high cost of beef. They didn't realize that the border was closed and supply had dropped. If they found...

    Live fire training in Reserves

Don't feel alone, the prairies are the same. I guess they need the practice more ( Note- start of flame war) As a Gunner, Live Fire Exs by us are almost exclusively live ammunition. A side benefit of the trade.

    the order of ranks,

http://www.forces.gc.ca/admfincs/subjects/qr_o/intro_e.asp From QR&Os Vol 1 - Therefore Warrant Offices are not considered NCOs. MCpl is not mentioned because: There was a msg out clraifying there is no such term as Sr or Jr NCMs and I will try and dig it up

    CAUTION- Windbag Alert!!!!

Parrish has maneuvered her way into potentially holding the balance of power. Some idiot. And personally I think its bullshit when it comes to the point of trying "not to offend the US". We a sovereign nation entitled to our own destiny. If the Americans are wrong, then we shouldn't shie away...

    the order of ranks,

Sgt is the only SNCO rank in the army because all Warrant Officers are separate as actually at one time the were handed Warrents (like a commission scroll). I don't have a ref handy right know. And if in doubt, approach any CWO and ask him if he is a SNCO. I'm sure he'd be happy to supply you...

Why Bush Failed the Presidency Test...

    1.  Humour is in the eye of the beholder. I guess Prime Minister "Poutine" wasn't funny either. 2. It wasn't an overwhelming re-election. (See Regan and Nixon (1972)) 3. Agree with the pretzel 4. "don't have room to be bush bashinging" is that if your not for him, your against him.

Basic Training Primer >> DOs and DON'Ts

I'm not giving away any secrets here: 1. Attention to detail 2. Listen to the words of Command, do not anticipate 3. Help your buddies 4.The group is more important then the individual 5. When you get a blast (not if), don't take it personally and learn from it. Don't brood and feel picked on...

    CAUTION- Windbag Alert!!!!

I think its unfair to lump Parrish to the NDP. She beats to her own drummer (or is that voices). The NDP is concerned (as is it's job) with American policies, she has a personal problem with them. Although all are have the right of free speech, Parrish's public musings are both tactless and...

Armybio, please don't display your ignorance on a subject you obversely know little to nothing about. If you don't have anything intelligent to say, silence would be considered a viable option. Take it. You come across as a snot nosed little kid who likes the sound of his own voice. Advise -...

    Subtle messages in society

At one time in Manitoba, stores could only sell bread and milk on Remembrance Day, Everything else was closed. It was deemed archaic (shades of Nova Scotia's recent Sunday shopping vote) and now everything is open at noon, And I would bet the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce is itching to change...

Time length to become an officer when starting from scratch (pte.)

So you want to be a sniper, diver and/or senior officer. My advise, pick a lane and stay in it. As for accelerated promotion, do your time like the rest of us (well 99% anyway) and earn your stripes/hooks. And lastly, the military is a profession, not a place to boost your ego by the rank you...

What rank do you hope to achieve in your CF career?

Your best rank always seems to be the last one you had before this promotion. But you tend to grow and expand with the latest postion (and added responsibility). That is until your next promotion. You should always strive, and never maintain the status quo. My planwould be to CFR somewhere down...
