    RCMP Info, discussion

10-10 Fry... The RCMP does not do the RPAT... it is the PARE, modified from the RPAT.  And for an applicant to the RCMP, they must complete a PARE test every six months during the application process to stay current.  As for time from application to being accepted, it varies.  I have seen as...

    CBSA arming

HDE... I apologize in advance if this comes off as condescending, that's not my intention. It is not as simple as "simply increasing the numbers of Mounties/Police Officers to provide backup."  There is a MASSIVE shortage of Policing in the RCMP, and I am sure in Municipal Police forces as...

Should the RCMP be doing provincial policing?

Being a current member of the RCMP, I have always thought we should take on more of a federal role, much like the FBI.  But that being said, I think I am better equipped to assume a federal enforcement role having been a street level Police Officer first.

    bin Laden offers a truce

As per the great movie "Band of Brothers" "To the Commander of Al Qaida Forces.... NUTS!" I remember the day of 9 11 vividly from the planes hitting the towers to the horrible days afterwards.  I don't think there can be any negotiations here. PS - I know I spelled Al Qaida wrong.

    Airborne Wings for RCMP/Police

Uuuhhhh, okay.... There is an ERT badge for ERT members that can be worn on the Red Serge, I would think it would be the same as jump wings.  Former ERT members are not going to take the badge off their Serge if they are not actively on a team anymore.

15 Jan 06 Glyn Berry Killed, 3 Others Injured in Afghanistan

While waiting for further details, I'm wondering about the civilian.  What sort's of civilians are accompanying patrols when they go out?  I wasn't aware that civilians were doing that.  Are they translators or humanitarian workers? Moderators, please feel free to break this off into another...

    Guns, Gangs and Toronto

And I see we are right back to where we left off when the topic got locked.  Tit for tat.  Well, I'll sum up with this.  Remember Mayerthorpe.  That lunatic killed four members of the RCMP with a military grade firearm that even ERT body armour would not have defeated.  But as others have...

London (Ont.) Police Service Constable provided info to the Hells Angels

You know, during wartime (or anytime for that matter), you pass information to the enemy and it's called treason.  I don't see this as any different.  This guy should fry.

Three Baltimore police officers charged in rape case

I could be wrong too, but the age thing is a grey area.  At least in Criminal Law.  For instance, in an undercover operation a suspect does not know the person he is dealing with is a Police Officer.  There is no perception of the U/C as a person of authority, despite the fact that he is indeed...

Three Baltimore police officers charged in rape case

The problem lays with their being or being perceived to be "persons of authority". I don't know how it may translate into American law, but in Canada certain types of people or certain situations create figures referred to as persons of authority.  The most simple way I can describe it is in...

Three Baltimore police officers charged in rape case

Messy.  Even the slightest hint of something out of the ordinary, and no matter what the findings the Police force will be criticized.  Especially if it turns into a racial issue (officers white, victims black), which it almost certainly will if the outcome is not fully vindicated in the public...

    Guns, Gangs and Toronto

You are just not listening, are you?  I apologize in advance for the bold caps, but it seems that they are required here to make my point. I DID NOT SAY I AGREE WITH A FIREARMS BAN!!!  I SIMPLY SAID THAT I DON'T SEE A VALID REASON FOR AN AVERAGE CITIZEN TO OWN A LAW ENFORCEMENT/MILITRAY GRADE...
