I hear that. The infrastructure doesn't seem to handle everyone having a signifcant role at the same time. The navy should be used to not being used for decades at a time though.

Unfortunately the gear requires computer upgrades and system modifications for each vessel we use. So with that said it can become quite "exstensive" for a load out.  If you go down to the dockyard today you will see our gear is on a MCDV as we speak. :)

Well with all the current rumours flying around the air force now and the navy I can see a lot of cancelations/cutbacks in planned upgrades. In this case no news is not good news

Sorry about that, I mistyped. I meant it was not up the PO's/Sgt's. But to the mebers of the mess. Also i think it would wrong to say that mess dinners aren't a tradition in the military. They may not be for a particular unit/base, but as far as I am concerned they are a military tradition.

I wopuld love to see the mess dinner tradition extend down to the JR mess but that is up to our PO's/Sgt's. It is up to the JR's.

If you received your call and have filled out your paper work at the recruiting center then you should have your tickets :) If you don't have a ticket from the recruiting center then you aren't going. Everything you need to know should be provided for you.

I love jungle boots :) I am in the navy and when we were trialing boarding party boots we started out with Jungle Boots and let me tell you. Wearing a slipper vice a 18lbs boot is so much more comfortable. I am scared to trade them up though as they might not reissue them  :(

I have been in for 6 years and I can tell you in my limited experience that are things you will love about the military and things you will hate. Make sure you express some of your concerns to your supervisors. Most people realize happy workers are better workers. You have to earn everything...
