Blogs as another front in the war

Freedom of speech. If we want to use it, so can everyone else.

Are we going to spending too much money on FELEX?

I hear that. The infrastructure doesn't seem to handle everyone having a signifcant role at the same time. The navy should be used to not being used for decades at a time though.

    Side Scan Sonar

Unfortunately the gear requires computer upgrades and system modifications for each vessel we use. So with that said it can become quite "exstensive" for a load out.  If you go down to the dockyard today you will see our gear is on a MCDV as we speak. :)

Are we going to spending too much money on FELEX?

Well with all the current rumours flying around the air force now and the navy I can see a lot of cancelations/cutbacks in planned upgrades. In this case no news is not good news

    Side Scan Sonar

Nice Topic :) I am currently the LS SonarOp at Route Survey. (Sidescan/Multibeam Sonar) I have been using the Klein 5500 sonar for 2 years now and have seen many other "solutions". Klein Sonars are great and being OTS makes it so much more powerful. To be honest the lack of Military structure...

Navy doing trials on new clothing???

I will definitely agree that our current NCD's or completely made of sub standard material. Buttons are always coming off, strings are always hanging... The shirts are too short.  There are a number of reasons not to wear what we are currently using. I would like to see a change but in light of...

    NEIP...what is your opinion?

Sorry about that, I mistyped. I meant it was not up the PO's/Sgt's. But to the mebers of the mess. Also i think it would wrong to say that mess dinners aren't a tradition in the military. They may not be for a particular unit/base, but as far as I am concerned they are a military tradition.

    NEIP...what is your opinion?

I wopuld love to see the mess dinner tradition extend down to the JR mess but that is up to our PO's/Sgt's. It is up to the JR's.

    Submariners face health risk

Not to pick on you geo :) Windsor :) She is doing fine :) Seen her at sea a few times and have done and exercise with her. As Dophin Hunter stated submarines do rely on being quiet, the whole thing is absurb. They are not in 24 Diesel Operation unless they are sailing in Peace Time and the...

    Lives lost, lessons learned

But it looks cool... A good basis to buy weapons, as it is stated Nato Standard exists for a reason. We already have compact weapons in the system that work. As it stands now I have yet to hear a complaint about our weapons. Oh and SG-1... Nice :)

Paid for the job, not the rank

OK, even if someone agreed they would simply make the postion requirement to included more rank levels. Problem would be solved and we would still be out money :)

    NEIP...what is your opinion?

I heard they did once when the got it :) Just to see what it looks like. Back on topic, this still sounds like a huge waste of time just to get members back in the gym. NO offense to the older "sea dogs" But they will be out soon and the ones who can't do the PT will not be an issue. I see...

    A question about Jungle Boots...

I love jungle boots :) I am in the navy and when we were trialing boarding party boots we started out with Jungle Boots and let me tell you. Wearing a slipper vice a 18lbs boot is so much more comfortable. I am scared to trade them up though as they might not reissue them  :(

made a bad choice want to go home

I have been in for 6 years and I can tell you in my limited experience that are things you will love about the military and things you will hate. Make sure you express some of your concerns to your supervisors. Most people realize happy workers are better workers. You have to earn everything...

    NEIP...what is your opinion?

Not to sound cynical but this program sounds like a way to keep people from screwing up by keeping them busy. Not a bad idea, but it shouldn't mandatory rather a punishment. Trust me the course would still be full. Esquimalt QL3's always bring out "The Best" in young men and women, but not being...
