Millennials leading increased Remembrance Day attendance

Going to my old high school to speak.  I've got the canned presentation, but then added picture and info at the end of every person I've known, in whatever form, that has died while in service since I've been in.  Also made a point of highlighting every casualty from my deployment - 18 deaths...

All Things Red Poppy Merged Thread (sales, copyright, usage, bans/restrictions, etc.)

I push the pin back through the poppy before hiding the end in my clothes.  Haven't lost a poppy yet since using this method, and it was taught to me by a Legion poppy distributor a few years back.  I made sure to show everyone this last year when I was working the poppy drive.

US Navy rescues women, dogs lost at sea for months

Couple of amateurs.  Their story is being questioned. That whole shark story seems pretty far fetched as well. http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/31/asia/pacific-sailors-jennifer-appel-tasha-fuiava-questions/index.html

US Navy rescues women, dogs lost at sea for months

Yup. No Sat phone at the very least?  If you're going to be anywhere where you can't see land (or civilization while on land) why wouldn't you carry one?

Is my entire unit getting screwed for leave?

According to the leave manual, that would be correct, because you wouldn't be working for that time period anyway.

    Gord Downie - 1964-2017

All the stations in Kingston are playing The Hip. RIP Gord Downie.  You were a mix of Indie, Rock and Canadian Folk all rolled into one awesome garage band.  A Canadian who loved his country and made us love it more with every song you wrote.

Joshua Boyle/Caitlan Coleman, AFG hostages, 2012-2017

Still haven't heard anything from his wife, which is another red flag. Watching an interview last night and he was saying they had kids because they had always wanted a large family, his wife was in her 30s and the clock was ticking (wow).  But in the next breath they were scared they would get...

    U.S. Military Transgender Policy

Don't have that info, but I do believe that the first person to get transition surgery is still serving in the RCAF, and that was almost 20 years ago if I recall.

    U.S. Military Transgender Policy

Then you're discriminating within the transgendered community itself, since very few get the surgery done.

"Canadian Forces warns members affiliated with radical groups"

Gotta love the media.  It wasn't a Mi'kmaq ceremony.  It was a protest by a Squamish FN woman against Cornwallis for his actions against the Mi'kmaq. But who am I to fix that factual error?  ::)

    Media Bias [Merged]

The Rebel is nothing but a tabloid, and I don't mean in the printing format. They may very well get a few good pieces out every once in awhile.  But by and large, their staff are mostly inexperienced wannabe journalists who would rather post a story with the intent of stirring the pot than to...

Well, if I was ever looking for a job...maybe not.  It would be interesting to work there, but I don't think I could reasonably work for an organization that has a completely different belief system from my own.
