    Footwear

I don't know if this is within topic, but I felt it needed to be said. I was a fairly religious user of the Sole Custom footbeds until very recently.  I saw (thanks to this site) that many are using Superfeet insoles, so I tried them out.  I like them as much, if not more than the Sole beds, as...

Civvie Version of the Three Sock System

Thanks for the input... my cold combo is a Wigwam Gobi sock liner, with a Wigwam Ice sock (80 % wool). But I am looking for further input.  I see that the Temperate sock is listed as being 60% wool.  Wigwam has a sock that is 50% wool, and they list it as their 40 Below sock.  Sounds awfully...

Mountie shot man in self-defence, says B.C. attorney general

"If dumb answers were offered, we'd never be able to identify the smart one's." Too true.  I am just frustrated that the finger always seems to be pointed at the Police as being at fault rather than the actions of the suspect being examined.  As someone pointed out (I can't remember if it was...

Mountie shot man in self-defence, says B.C. attorney general

I disagree.  I'm not saying that healthy discussion is wrong.  But throw in with that statement "healthy informed discussion". Too many times, media, the public and those not in possession of the facts are too quick to jump to conclusions or assume incorrect things. And by the way, "Can't the...

Mutliple shots fired, Dawson College, Montreal

Unless you are trained to do what needs to be done, or are one of those rare people who have the unknown genetics to step up to the plate and do something, I don't think it's fair to say "why didn't someone do something." Fight or flight reaction. The simple fact of evolution is that our...

Mutliple shots fired, Dawson College, Montreal

In Hoc +1 to that.  I don't know if I came off discrediting that line of work, that was not the intention.  People that do that keep me alive down the road.  Off topic, I'll bring up an interesting point.  Two youths have recently been charged with a double homicide in Alberta.  They were...

Mountie shot man in self-defence, says B.C. attorney general

No apology necessary, and as I said, I mean no offence.  But until someone does this job, I can only say that the general public simply has no idea what this job is about.  Everybody plays armchair critic saying things like "Why didn't the Police shoot him in the arm?"  "Why did they have to...

Mountie shot man in self-defence, says B.C. attorney general

Inspir, I don't want to sound confrontational, but I checked your profile.  I see that it says "Hopefully MP after college." I hope that stands for Member of Parliament, and not Mounted Police.  If you have to even ask if the officer in the video was justified in what he did, then you...

Mutliple shots fired, Dawson College, Montreal

This situation clearly defines why we need Active Shooter Teams that are properly equipped.  It may not be the case in a place like Montreal, but in most large urban centres, the ERT Teams are on call members.  They can take hours to deploy.  Properly trained and equipped ACT's are already on...

Civvie Version of the Three Sock System

I would like to put together a civvie version of the three sock system being issued right now.  The last PDS track I went on was hell on my feet.  Can someone post what each layer is made out of?  Plus whatever tips for better foot health in general would be appreciated...

    RCMP Info, discussion

Crown, you still have years ahead of you.  Unless you were directly told the reason for your deferral (spelling, I know), your age may be an issue.  The single biggest thing that ALL Police Forces are looking for is life experience.  Keep doing what you are doing, branch out, and keep a record...

Canadian troops kill plain clothes Afghan police officer, injure six others

Thanks Irish... two days back from AOL and my true nature is right back.  But like I said, we come home first.  Everyone else is a distant second.

Canadian troops kill plain clothes Afghan police officer, injure six others

News flash, people... if an plainclothes Police Officer is involved in a violent incident that uniformed members are going to respond to, you can bet he or she will be having credentials out, and NO WEAPON IN HAND when the uniformed members arrive.  I'll admit that the complete facts may not...

:salute:  :cdn: I am in Winnipeg on leave right now.. I just had a friend that is with the Air Force ship out short notice to Dubai.  He said that he has been participating in every ramp ceremony in the past week.  Tough going.  I see a lot of support our troops stuff on vehicles though.  The...

Your name does you credit, Irish.  Looking forward to next month... I think we will be there around the 7th.

    Tattoos in the RCMP

I have two on my forearms.  As long as they are not offensive, you should be okay.  We have one guy in our office who has a full sleeve on one arm.  He has taken to (by his own choice) wearing the long sleeve shirt year round.  He says he gets too many questions about it when he is working.
