    Tips on Cleaning the C-7

Heres a tip, do it the way you were taught to.  Period. If they don't nail you for a dirty weapon, it will be your rack.  If not your rack, your boots.  If not your boots, your uniform.  They will find something.  And it's just a way to re-inforce that you have to take care of your tools.

    Guns, Gangs and Toronto

TCBF, be careful of the comments about simply wanting to protect our pensions. I'm not defending Guests comments (I don't agree with a lot of it), but that being said, I don't think it's fair to say things like that until you have walked a mile in a cop's shoes.  I can't think of another job in...

    verbal judo

I did a Google Search.  The author of The Five Minute Police Officer is Terry Barker.  As for the ISN number, I have no idea.

I'll see what I can do... it's been a long time since I've seen the book.  It's somewhere in the basement.

Gifts for members headed to Afganistan

I got to thinking about the red/white question.  I always used a red filter for night vision when I was in, but I find now (and I suppose back then too) that the red light effectively erases red markings on maps.  Would blue light be better?  My understanding is that blue light will not travel...

Gifts for members headed to Afganistan

Geo.... I have been told by my mates that are headed over that I can expect an IED in the mail if I send them a letter that smells nice, but I will see if my wife is up to the job!  ;D Franko... clip on LED's.  Red light, or white?  Inova makes a great one that has a nice big metal clip to...

Gifts for members headed to Afganistan

For those of you who may have gone to A-stan, what would you recommend for a gift to send to someone that they can use over there?  I'm not cheap, but I'm also not going to buy them laptops. And before anyone gets uppity and suggests using the search feature, I thought about that.  I want info...

    verbal judo

I have heard of it, but have not read it... what I do hear is all good.  Along the lines of "The Five Minute Policeman".  Which is another excellent book for new members to read...

Laval Police Officer Killed in the line of duty

Correction to my initial post... CBC News is now saying that Cst. Gignac was only hit once.  Three shots were fired from a .338 calibre rifle.  The round that struck Cst. Gignac went through a door, her front ballistic panel, her body, her back ballistic panel, and then a wall.  The accused was...

Laval Police Officer Killed in the line of duty

Silverbach... I'm not a friend of anti-gun legislation, and I am senior enough in my law enforcement career to realize that lawyers aren't the enemy (we all are on the same team and have a job to do).  I only ask that you remember her then next time the Crown asks for a firearms prohibition the...

Laval Police Officer Killed in the line of duty

Another officer killed in the line of duty... A 25 year old Laval Police Officer was shot three times in the stomach, though a door with a high powered rifle.  Her partner dragged her off to safety, and the cavalry (ERT) responded.  The gunman surrendered after several hours. :(  :cdn...

Operator "Shorty" Tactical Gloves by Hatch Corp.

I think they are great.  I have them in black, and use them most days on duty.  I have always wanted to try the Blackhawk gloves though... they look top notch.

Should civy camping gear makers hop on the modularity band wagon?

I think so... but the biggest place I see modular gear in the Military is in tactical vests or plate carriers.  Not much of that civvie side.  Modular packs would be cool... Kifaru I believe has modular pouches you can put on the inside of their packs.

    Need the ultimate CQ weapon???

And P.S. - Not knocking those in the current know for CQB, but the only useless weapon in CQB is one that is not used.  And a lot of pics coming out of Iraq have guys sporting variations of Tomahawks.  Can't imagine a more fear inviting weapon at this point....
