If America adopts Canada's health care system

I don't even know what to say to that... Many live pay check to pay check, or worse, in the biggest economy in the world. And the reality is is that many can't provide for their own care. It is not just personal defects that make the poor.

If America adopts Canada's health care system

I_am_John_ Galt:            First, I did point out that competitive markets and private firms have an important role to play in health care and society; "It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer, or the baker, that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own...

If America adopts Canada's health care system

The individual workers might not carry a sacred trust, but the system does. Just like the CF, some may be there just because its a job and some money in the pocket, or for other direct personal benefits; some might get more advancement on account of personal connections, but does that make it...

If America adopts Canada's health care system

I'll keep my 'communist' public system thanks very much.  It might suck in a thousand different ways, but on principle alone I prefer it.  I am also perfectly happy with half of my substantial tax bill going to the health care system.  Private health insurers make more money the less...

    Destroyer Replacement Program

I know that this has been covered in other threads, but it is worthwhile to note here also.  Option 'D' would work well if ship procurment wouldn't be so contract based. Having a permenent yard, even of modest size, to produce a continuous but low volume of hulls is not to much to ask...

Putin: NATO flexing muscles at border

I like to keep harmful debris out of my eyes.  ;D On a slightly more serious note; Bush policies draw heat internationally, even 'W' himself would likely agree with this on some level.  I'm not making a judgement on them, though I do have an opinion, his polices have aggrevated many.  Putin is...

Putin: NATO flexing muscles at border

Much of Putin's consternation is the result of US intransigence. I think a change of president(s) has the potential to improve the relationship vis-a-vis the US at least.  That said, as others have either stated or alluded to, it is critical to keep in mind the domestic forces acting here. ...

Offensive cartoon in (you guessed it) the "Toronto Star"

Don't get all down on university kids now. I go to York which I've been told, by people who don't go here, is the new centre of Marxism in the universre; left as left gets type of thing, anti-everything. On Novemeber 10th I had the pleasure of escorting a blind Legion memeber, who was...

No good will come from this

I don't have any care for Dion, Mulroney, Harper, Chretien or Dithers. I hope the very small sum of money that this will take nails a whole array of butts to the wall. It is also the oppositions DUTY to throw mud, attack, dig up skeletons and out maneuver the government. All sides do it...

Offensive cartoon in (you guessed it) the "Toronto Star"

I don't think the sky is falling with this one. Bad timing ,but nothing else. I don't think that the cartoonist is suggesting that the military will take over, just that the GTA is Liberal and is proving hard for Harper to crack. Nothing more. edited: spelling

    runningmap.com

I use google earth; its fast, easy and accurate. I've checked it against my car and a proper map and it's spot on. It also loads fast and has a better interface for map manipulation than rm.com .
