    SQ course

SQ for Med Techs (and other support trades) is 4 weeks in length currently. (number of training days depends on your course per say, as some get weekends off, some don't)

    RFT

Every candidate that I was on RFT with, that passed RFT and was put on platoon, graduated and have now moved on to trades training. In my time there, we lost about a handful to VR and MR, but I'd say (rough numbers) 20/25 in my time there have now graduated and moved on. A bunch of them are now...

Question about the small pack system

I use it for PT gear as well. Once I get out to BC in about a month, I'll be using it as a book bag for school.

    Milnet.ca Medic Q&A

The next course training at the Justice Institute is going to be 6 months in length. We are starting sometime in May, and will be the first 6 month course. (has just been extended from 3-6 months) See this link, for updated info I have posted on course lengths: Course Updates

The Fifth Estate: "Life And Death In Kandahar" airing 12 Mar 08

Our Sgt told our course about the documentary in class yesterday, so a group of us Med Tech's-in-training sat down together and watched it last night. We were glued to the screen for the entire time, and we were all pretty proud of those doing the jobs we aspire to do in the near future. It was...

March 2008 CPGear Contest: War Stories

Alright, I have a story I could share. It's not exactly a "war story", but it's military related. A couple of months ago I was in Meaford for SQ. Well it was the week before my course was to start, and I'm contacted to attend the Vimy Award's Dinner in Ottawa, as the boyfriend's date, as he has...

    Fighting Alongside Infantry?

"any kind of medic"...? I'd like to think you'd want to be an excellently trained, highly efficient Medic. As for the "long time to train", well the initial training is now approximately 9.5 months long. That really isn't that long to train to do something as important as care for fellow...

What have you won thus far in the Roll Up the Rim?

I'm 3/5 so far. Two free coffee's and a doughnut so far. Maybe my luck is changing....

    Eyeball Tattoo

I think the fingernails holding the eye open grossed me out more than anything Moe!... I can just imagine the trouble I'd be in if I touched a "patient" (coursemate) like that at school! As for the eye tattoo, I'm sure a ton of people would love the gift of eyesight since he obviously doesn't...

    All About PAT (merged)

You'd be surprised at the difference that program causes for an individual. I've seen some enter the program at 300+ lbs, and graduate from BMQ 100+ lbs lighter, having no problems at all with the express test. (and doing quite well on it too!)

QL3 course, what are these rumours?

Figured I'd post an update, as this week coming marks the halfway point on my Clinical portion. Course is going very well so far. We're done all our written exams now, and have been focusing on "hands on" stuff.  We've learned a lot of interesting stuff so far, and each day we learn something...

    All About PAT (merged)

RFT being on the 12th floor is a good thing anyways. Climbing 12 flights of stairs 3-5 times a day is great for a person's fitness level.

Injured recruits misdiagnosed then dropped by military

I just had time to watch a video of the news broadcast about these two ladies that were released. I thought one of the stories seemed quite familiar. One of them was on RFT when I first got there, and lets just say I couldn't watch that broadcast with a straight face. I find it pretty funny when...

Injured recruits misdiagnosed then dropped by military

I may be slightly off-topic, but I felt like touching on a couple of things. I was not in "good enough" shape when I arrived at BMQ. I had some kind of false belief that I was when I signed up, but a few days into course I knew very well that I should have held off applying until I was in...

QL3 course, what are these rumours?

Yup, that would be the breakdown for my QL3. It's going to be a long haul, but I suppose that means I will learn a ton of neat things!

QL3 course, what are these rumours?

Funny enough, we did try on the MP uniform in the QM when we were sized. So they must be pretty much the same by the looks of it.

QL3 course, what are these rumours?

I just started my Med Tech QL3 yesterday, but I can answer a few of the questions posted in the thread. As for the contract being awarded for the civilian paramedic training, it's been done now. We met with the Commandant of CFMSS today, and she advised us that our course is "making history" in...

    Pea's Story...

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. I'm pretty much settled into my new shacks now, and even have internet already. I'm super excited to begin tomorrow, but also quite nervous. Hopefully I'll get to see some of you around the school in the coming months.

    Pea's Story...

I just found out that I have been put on a QL3 course starting Monday!! I was supposed to be starting in February, but that course was cancelled so I have been pretty bummed the past bit. But for some unknown reason, a spot opened on the 14 Jan course, and I got it. I'm super excited to begin...

    PRETC Kit Issue

I'm on PRETC currently, and have seen a few CT's come through in the past bit. A friend of mine arrived from a different trade and element, and he was sent to the QM as part of his in clearance to go get his new uniform items and whatnot. So I assume you'd be sent to do the same upon arrival...
