My heart goes out to the family, friends and comrades of the fallen. Speedy recovery to the injured.
Not quite the Easter we all would hope for. Damn heartbreaking.
RIP Troops.
It's been a while since I was in Vernon. I was in Charlie in 2001, and I don't remember winning the penant that year. But, my memory could just be sucking these days. I do remember hearing about the "charlie curse" though, although I am not sure what the "conditions" were.
Well I can't say I joined because of any family history. We don't know of one person on my Mom's side that was in, so I am "breaking ground" so to speak.
Basically, two reasons. To give back, and help others.
As simple as that. :cdn:
I'm not really a chocolate kind of gal. (*gasp* YES I am sure I am female...) So, Easter isn't my fave holiday. Although the ham dinner Mom makes each year is something I look forward to! Although seeing as I leave for BMQ soon, I am not able to take any time off to go home this year... Boo. I...
I know what you mean. It's been a "long time coming" for me too. Ya I'm coming from Edmonton. Waterton national park eh? Nice. I'm going to miss this province. Ah well, time for a new adventure I suppose!
Thanks for taking the time to provide the lengthy reply with advice. I appreciate it. I hope your son gets back on course soon. :)
Anyone else for the May 7th BMQ in St.Jean? I have my course number now too, PM if interested.
32 days to go! ;)
I'm no recruiter, but I don't see why not. I used an ex's dad for my long term reference who happened to be one of my cadet leaders at one point too. They accepted that, and said they just needed someone who knew me enough to provide a character reference that wasn't related to me.
Hope that helps.
On the reference form it states that ONE of the 3 references must have known you for 5 years or longer. I had a hard time with this at first, but did find someone. (youth leader, teacher, adult long time family friend... so on)
Good Luck.
I am REALLY sorry to hear that Wes. Deployments are definitely a trying situation, in many many ways.
I can somewhat relate to your situation, however the opposite direction. I recently finished waiting for someone who was away on deployment. Things too seemed great throughout the tour, and...
I realize no one has made a complaint yet. What I meant is that is this guy all a sudden being "proactive"? Either way, I think it's retarded. There are actual important things to worry about these days.
I fell asleep and missed the first half of it. I did manage to catch some, and it seemed good. I'll have to check and see if there will be an encore show.
Thanks everyone.
Well it's official! I signed the next 6 years of my life away this morning! And yes, I am still grinning!!
As promised, an enrollment photo.
Well it's my last day as a civilian, as I do my swearing in tomorrow morning. My Mom and brother are on their way down from Northern Alberta to be with me. I'm getting pretty excited today, but the nerves are definitely there too. My VIE is 6 years which I know is a big commitment, but...
