    Westies

The trip to the Westie armouries wouldn't be that bad, probably around 30min. We will probably be going to Ft Lewis next year but that shouldn't be a factor. We will be doing patrolling and urban ops prior to Cougar Salvo along with some interesting range ex's. It is shaping up to be a good...

    U.S. ACOG Optical Sight

For CQB stuff, EoTech or Aimpint is the only way to go. For field operations I like the ACOG. The S&B also provides a nice all in one package. I am wanting to try the Ailpoint with the 3x magnifier, supposed to be a nice combo as well.

Better/Faster Way To Get Things Shipped? [split from One Shot Tactical thread]

When I was in Kabul, we used the post office at Bagram and Camp Kabul(Eggers).  Is saw lots of non-US mil in there, especially at Bagram.  Give it a shot. From the US I was getting stuff in 10-14 days.

Question on Brownings and Tactical Holsters

Kev, is the company going to start issuing 6004's? It would be about time that they sunk some money into decent kit. I know I saw the Peruvians and Namibs with them.

Canadian soldiers fatally shoot taxi driver

The problem with the Afghans is that they are generally dense!!! We would wave at them to slow down or stop, then hold our rifles out or point them at them.  Sometimes it took more.  They just drive right at you.  The funy thing is that they are staring right at you the whole time!!!! You can be...

    Body armor identification?

Well PSP makes our tacvests, body armour, all the JTF gear.  It wouldn't be too much of a stretch for them to make something for a police force in Cadpat. The police in question would just need to get authorization from CTS or whoever they get it from.

    Body armor identification?

It sounds to me like a SWAT-type vest. The snap/velcro combo was  and still is popular amongst SWAT teams. MOLLE/PALS is more effective.  Our team was looking at the PSP vests but have decided to go with Diamnondback Tactical vests instead. One thing people should know about PSP is that they...

Canadian Public Opinion Polls on Afghanistan

It's nice to hear that we are generally supported, however I think Canadians need to be educated about out military and it's operations. I have been out many times in uniform and people don't know I am in OUR army!!!!!! They always ask if I am American!!!!! Also, I agree with the article when it...

Question on Brownings and Tactical Holsters

Another great thing about Safariland....Diamondback Tactical sells a MOLLE panel so you can attach the 6004 to your vest/chest rig.  As long as you have PALS webbing. Great for vehicles.  Alot of guys were using the Blackhawk version(CQC) on their vests in A-Stan.

    Questions about Distraction Devices?

I had no idea about the training grenades!!!!!!!!!! Totally figures, all we have in Ottawa are asshats. Now that our troops are in harms way what will it take for our military to start training properly.  Will it take us having to suffer needless casualties for that to happen.  Sadly I think it...

    Small Pack Issue

After talkng to xxxxxxxx, apparently the new officer in charge of the CTS program says MOLLE is on the way out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about still fighting in Germany mode circa 1980. Typical for this army. Take 10 years to come out with crap kit that nobody likes.  By nobody I mean guys that have...

SWAT Original 9" boots - Any "reviews"?

I wear the 9" side zip steel toe model for work (prison) .  They are comfortable and durable, they made it through a large riot, trudging through water, crap, blood, and all sorts of other vile crap for 2 months without a problem. I don't think they would stand up to extended periods in the...

    New personal equipment for soldiers

We used the same shin guards for riot control at work before we moved up to Hatch models. Those are specifically designed for LE use.

    Dave's army surplus

I got my Cadpat Wasatch already, one of 2 in Canada, and it is awesome! If you want Cadpat gear, Dave's is the place.

    tactical flashlight

Either Streamlight Scorpion (lithium), Strion (rechargable) We use these in ERT or Surefire. They are 6 of one and a half dozen of the other! In my experience though, the Surefire batteries don't seem to last as long as the Streamlight. For weapons lights, we use Surefire although we are...

    Merged 64 Pattern Rucksack thread

He made a pretty good ruck, however he ripped me off for $200.  I prepaid for one of his "pathfinder" rucks on the recommendation of others who said he was honest, etc and never got anything but the runaround. He asked me for my address about 6 times (every time I called him!) and said it got...

    Reserve Training Allowance?????

I was told that there is a directive or canforgen out there about extra -curricular training allowances. I know that the regs have it, but do the reserves?  If you take any non-military courses that are directly applicable to your trade, the regs get it re-imbersed. ie: I am a medic and go...
