Glad to help! Some of those leopard bits I mentioned had a lot of tech advice from a couple of LdSH(RC) tank comds (one a Leo C1A1, the other a C2 and 2A6M comd). I'd like to do one of the ex-NL Leos that will become 2A4+...but I think I will wait-out a couple years to see what they actually end...
Hi, you are right it is pricey. I have one at home and the detail is generally quite good. The tire treads in mine were a bit off, and if you want to nit-pick, they are not the same tread pattern as the ones we used in Canada. Then again, its the only game in town as far as an iltis goes :-\
And for a leopard C2 in Afghanistan, you can use the following:
1. Revell / Italeri Leopard 1A5. This kit used to be hard to find, but Italeri is re-releasing it this year.
2. Maple Leaf Models #MLM1031 Leopard C2 MEXAS Conversion & MLM1010 C2 Conversion
3. Real Models #RMA 35202 Photo etch...
You're in luck as far as Leopards go.
OK, for the 2A6M Cdn, I'd go with the following:
1. Tamiya Leopard 2A6, kit #35271. <a href="http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/tamiya/tam35271.htm">Leopard 2 A6 review</a>
2. Storm Minatures Leopard 2A6M Canadian Conversion set. <a...
Hi, not as far as I am aware. I'd like to see a Cdn G-Wagon too. You can get an iltis from Trackjam Models in Canada. It's made of resin and is a bit fiddly.
I'm pretty sure its designed to fit a Leo 1A4 kit. From that kit I expect you'd keep only the lower hull, tracks, and running gear. Then again, it might be a full-on resin kit with no conversion required. I didn't look too much farther past the $200 price tag :)
Here are some test shots of the Trumpeter LAV-III. No release date as of yet. Looks pretty good!
I'm working with Trumpeter R&D on a 1/35 BISON, COYOTE and TLAV. They have also expressed interest in an ADATS. No idea on release dates for those, I think the 'yote might be nearly ready as the...
Hey gang,
Here's the BOBCAT II. 426 Sqn RCAF Regt, just back from a CLP. I have to say, this was a fun little speculative project. I think my next "what-if?" subject will also be air defence..something that would have bridged the gap between the Skink and Gepard. Maybe a Centurion AD with twin...
I've always found The Personal to have the best rates by far. As DND-military, you are entitled to the group rate. For me, this was between $800-$1500 cheaper than the regular brokers. Not sure about the <25 rates though.
Whoa, that is nice. I think if I did something like that in an AFV, the mounties would be paying me a visit! Afterall, a 120mm main gun in 1/6 scale could still ruin your day!
I look forward to seeing the Husky built up - I've never seen anyone build a model of one.
For the P-3, there is a company called Flightdecs, who should be releasing a set of Canadian markings for that kit.
But the LAV C2 we did not use. With some creative cutting and styrene sheet, you...
Fair bit of social life, jolly japes and capers abound. From informal Sqn BBQ to mess dinners, to very formal big balls (heh heh), and hijinks and larks, oh what merry fun indeed. Nostalgia is great, I hardly remember the misery now.
Hi, well there is no shortage of 1/35 tanks to concentrate on! I use Tamiya paints. They are acrylic, not as toxic as enamels, and don't stink up the house which is important to ensure domestic bliss. Washes are oil based and thinned with cheapy canadian tire paint thinner.
Cheers!

Regrets.. not anymore.
I was accepted to U of T under ROTP. 1 day AFTER my BOTC grad, the ULO informed me that a spot had opened up at RMC. Under the terms of my enrollment, I had to take the RMC option if it was offered, or take my release. I had been to RMC on zoo tour and knew that I would...
;D
Ok, I am 4 months too early with this subject...
The Bobcat II was borne out of a capability deficiency noted by the Air Force during exercises simulating expeditionary operations in the late 1990's. As 4 AD Regt removed the GDF-005 and SkyGuard from service, the Air Force lost a measure...
