Marks / Grades: School / GED or PLAR [MERGED]

Don't forget you need to qualify for the trade you want by writing the CFAT (aptitude test). I'm not sure about the specifics for basic education - but getting your high school diploma could never hurt you. Go talk to the recruiters and see what they say. Hope everything works out for you!

DEO or NCM - Weighing Education vs Preferred Jobs

I struggled with the same decisions, essentially. I have a degree and everyone around me kept telling me not to waste it. If I could have done DEO Int O, that would have been my first choice, but it wasn't available, as you know. I looked into Comms Research too but it didn't work out for me. I...

    It's been a long road...

Yay good news!! I had my interview today and they were rushing to process my paperwork because they said selection for MP was closing today. He said there are two MPACs scheduled for November. The interview went well, he confirmed that I have a competitive score but that he can't speak on the...

    My long journey.

I wouldn't stress too much, from what I understand they might not call all of your references. They only called one of mine and now my file is in for review awaiting confirmation for an interview. Keep checking in regularly and you'll get everything sorted eventually.

    Education part of the Application

That's what I had to do. It won't let you enter future dates so I just put today's date. Don't spaz out about it, you are going to have to provide all of your documentation anyway. I didn't have any problems with it - I had my Diploma by the time they contacted me.

    RCMP Info, discussion

You have to talk to a recruiter for them and/or do one of their career presentations now. You can check on their recruiting website for contact numbers and presentations near you. Also, the process can be incredibly long and drawn out (before anyone goes crazy - I have done most of it before...

    It's been a long road...

Thanks guys! One good thing about this website...no shortage of people who can understand how frustrating this is! I am just feeling a bit sorry for myself, I'll snap out of it!  Thanks for the suggestions too, I have been trying to do what I can. And you're right, walking with crutches...

    It's been a long road...

Well....bad news bear here... I haven't heard anything from the RC yet about booking my appointment, I will give them a call in a week or two to check things out. However, while stepping off my porch Sunday night I ate dirt...hard. I also sprained my ankle pretty badly. This is not good. As...

    File potentially lost?

It is possible that your file is lost, I know several people who have had that happen, but it is also possible that Canada Post is taking longer than usual. "max 5 days", have you never received anything snail mail? I can tell you right now 5 day max is a bunch of hooey. Maybe double check...

    MPAC

Well, I'm definately not making that one, lol. I was thinking it would be later in the Fall. Oh well. Good Luck to everyone who gets selected!!  :)

    Military family's?

That's a pretty rich history. I don't have that sort of lineage. My Grandfather tried to enlist for WWII but was denied for a blood condition and flat feet. In more recent times I have three Uncles who served, my Dad was a reservist for a short time, my Brother is currently serving, my...

    Military family's?

Good conversation about what? You start a thread asking people to tell you about their families, that's kind of sketchy. Be more specific, maybe someone will bite.

National identity, how do you identify?

Canadian, Acadian, Maritimer, Irish, Native, Army Wife, etc., I'm not picky. Always a Canadian first though, anywhere West of NB gets confused about the Maritimer bit,  ;)

How May My Country of Origin Affect Recruitment?

I wouldn't worry about that either. There are plenty of Muslims in the Military. Islam itself is not anything to worry about, fanaticism, terrorism and prejudice are. Don't worry about being judged! The Military is full of people from all walks of life. Good Luck!!
