    RECRUITMENT ALLOWANCES RESCINDED

Does recruitment allowances mean like a signing bonus? If not could someone please explain or provide an example? Thanks!

I could use some encouragement please

I realize you have moved on from this but just a quick note: Nothing written by the posters above your comment was offencive or should have caused you to bristle in any way. They were providing you with realistic and blunt answers to your questions. The military isn't a bunch of meanies or...

    On the path

I too would classify myself in the "horrible at Math" category. I wrote the CFAT a few years ago and still qualified on paper for every trade. My math is what kept me from qualifying for officer though. Do your best, prepare better than I did and hopefully it all works out for you! All the best!

    Hero inflation

That was my first reaction too. It's unusual that travelling to a war zone in the pursuit of security for others isn't considered truly extraordinary.... And to the person who referred to his  Grandfather who had served and who never referred to others who served as heroes...yeah...most heroes...

Military families living in mould-infested homes: Ombudsman

They are pretty cheap in Oromocto. It's the bloody natural gas that kills us! Thank goodness for equalized billing!  :)

Component Transfer ( CT ) - Reserve to Regular

I didn't see anyone answer the original question about how long the MPAC assessments are valid. I too am curious about that. Do you ever have to redo MPAC once completed? Thanks!! And good luck to the original poster!

What's the Dumbest Thing You've SEEN Today?

Whilst pumping gas the other day I overheard a slew of profanity coming from the other side of the pump I was using. Then I heard a weird banging noise...I peered over the side and watched as the woman on the other side was punching the gas pump, swearing about how it wouldn't take her card or...

    Social Worker Officer occupation

Yupp....and that's also in the link that I provided, also an explanation of why you are required to possess a Masters and why the military can't subsidize a Bachelor of Social Work but can a Masters of Social Work. I edited my comment because others had previously used better sources than my...

Afghanistan attacks the start of ‘spring offensive:’ Taliban

Taken from the Globe and Mail website. I haven't heard much about this today surprisingly. Mods, sorry if this is in the wrong thread, please move if need be. So confused when my husband called me this afternoon to tell me he was ok...and this is why I don't watch the news... Hopefully everyone...

    Social Worker Officer occupation

I'm pretty sure you have to have a Masters in Social Work, not just a Bachelor. But you can apply for the military to pay for your Masters in Social Work if you are already accepted into a program. Whoops, that's wrong. I asked some similar questions in a thread earlier about Social Worker...

    Joining The Infantry

There's no way that could hurt you in the long run. However, I would maybe do like the above poster suggested and get into some volunteer work or play some sports, you know, to demonstrate that you can apply leadership skills and not just learn about them. Good Luck!!  :)

    Shit Civilians Say to Veterans

It's true. A lot of the time my husband will recognize the name but you're right about no one ever seeming to know what they do, being in the Army is enough I guess. I seem to get those types of questions lately too, apparently being married to someone in the Army means I know everyone in the...

Direct Entry Officer (DEO) questions [Merged]

I wouldn't plan on getting DEO for Intelligence. Not only are positions few and far between for civilians, they like their Intelligence people to have some knowledge of and experience in the military first. Unless of course you are a ninja who speaks 5 languages and has experience working for...

What book are you reading now?

Haha, I am taking a Criminology course in College. Psychology is really fascinating too, especially behavioural and abnormal psychology. But now that I have started reading them there are a couple of people that come to mind...an old room mate in particular.... Thanks though, for what I will...
