CF Hair Regulations - superthread [MERGED]

That is correct. On my basic, we females were not permitted to wear our hair in anything other then a tight bun except for the field or on the obstacle course. Guys also had to keep their hair shorter then what the regulations would allow for, it seems to be that way for courses in general...

Stalwart Guardian 05 from the sigs' perspective

Hey all, For those of us who were at SG 05 as sigs, lets hear some thoughts over how the ex went for you. A big eye-opener and a huge learning experience for myself, since this was not only my first Stalwart, but also the first time I had ever had the chance to try out the role of det...

Monthly Pay after deductions - Questions [Merged]

I did my BMQ/SQ in Shilo is 2003, and I brought home about $3500-4000 after taxes for an 8-week course (not sure if that's changed now), including the claim I got afterwards. Bear in mind, that was at a rate of about 71 bucks a day, there's since been a raise and I believe new Ptes make $77.00 a...

    Joining and Mobalizations questions

I am currently both a reservist and a second year university student. Many if not most of the people at my unit currently attend either university or college, some in very demanding programs. Someone I know even manages to juggle law school and the Reserves, it's all about time management...

    Stalwart Guardian 05

Hey, this is going to be my first Stalwart as a sig as well. I've heard that it all depends on where they stick you, we could be doing anything from SDS (apparently the sweetest job) to working at Excon, or in a det with a CP out supporting the units. Since we both finished our 5s (I think I've...

Is it usual for a recuiter not to respond to an e-mail the first time

Also, if your posting style is any indication of the way you usually write, there may be another explanation for the recruiter's delayed response.

    Too Quiet

Yeah, that 6 hours continuous sleep thing was BS. How many times has anyone been on ex and had 6 hours continuous sleep? Unless the ex is very overmanned, it doesn't happen very often- shift work's part of the job. Now, requiring 6 hours of continuous sleep for drivers, and then having half the...

    Too Quiet

Hmmm, interesting. My course was the last 5s one to have our ex the "old" way (just our course). We had heard about the school trying out doing the ex combined 3s and 5s and were curious as to how it would turn out. Some possible problems we discussed were: - the det comd basically doing...

Nah, the Comm Res couldn't pull of the Carl G lol, we did the M72 that October, but with inserts, not real rounds. And yes, we had a refresher class before each weapon we fired. Kat just has a bad memory.  :P

In Toronto? Whoa, it hasn't rained much here in the last....long while. Late Aug/ Early Sept can get pretty warm, usually up to the mid 20s during the day, and cooler at night, around 10-15 degrees. Doesn't rain all that much until fall kicks in either. Hope that helps a bit.

    Too Quiet

Ah, the wonderful world of CFSCE. Luckilly, I've been out of there since my course finished June 30th, and from what I've been hearing glad I left when I did. But I'll be back in Aug, though not as a student this time...hey 3s guys, how'd the field ex end up with the 5s course as your det comds...

A couple of questions about the reserves.

No, unless some major shyte hits the fan. Summer is the main time when most reservists do courses. If your civvy employer is gracious enough to give you the time off to do courses, then you're lucky (there's a bunch of threads on this board about this already). If not, you're SOL.

    Thinking of joining...

No, you can't work as a sig op and attend RMC at the same time, as it's not like regular school. While at RMC, besides earning a degree in whatever field you choose, you're also training to learn a trade in the military, so that you can work in said trade once you finish your degree at RMC. Do...

    Question on Rank and Pay

Hey everyone, I was promoted to Cpl a few months ago, actually nearly 2 months ahead of my 2 years' in date so I could go on course as a Cpl. However, I was still paid as a Pte until my actual 2 yrs-in date, which is when the Cpl pay kicked in. Not that I'm complaining or anything, as I was...

    Thinking of joining...

I don't know about RMC, but joining the reserves as a sig op is a great idea. (Heck, that's what I do so it better be a great idea.) I belong to the Comm Regt in Toronto and joined while in high school as well, and found it was a great way to make extra cash while in school. However, if you just...

    Golan Heights Rumours

I've been hearing lots of different things about the Golan lately. First I heard it that Canada was closing down its presence there, but then opportunities for tours have still been popping up, and now I've heard that while the main Canadian contingent is leaving, the sigs are staying. Anyone...
