Advice for women on BMQ and other courses [MERGED]

I've been using the army fitness manual for the last few weeks (you can find it online if you google 'army fitness manual', and click on the first one that comes up). It seems really well balanced with cardio, both power and endurance, and of course weights. It's a 12 week program that's...

Anyone going Air Force get an offer or call for Basic lately?

Indeed! Even though all the uncertainty is a little frustrating at times, it's never boring, and that's precisely why I want to be in the CF! I think it's funny how I'm going to be an ANAV, and because nothing's been really confirmed yet, all my plans are "up in the air". Ha ha ha chuckle sigh. ;D

Anyone going Air Force get an offer or call for Basic lately?

I figured BMOQ would be the first step, but I wasn't sure, as I wasn't sure about Elwood's previous military experience/training. I also keep forgetting that those who aren't going to RMC are going to be following a set progression of training. I will too, but as it's different this year for new...

Elwood, congrats! So, what's your training plan? Are you heading straight to Winnepeg?

I do them with my palms towards me, as that's how they describe to do them in the physical standards brochure. With your palms toward you, you are working more of your biceps, and with them facing away from you (so you are looking at the back of your hands) you work more of your lats. The second...

Anyone going Air Force get an offer or call for Basic lately?

Well, I have been training to enter the forces for over 2 years, and came back to Canada last July specifically to apply. I've been accepted into RMC this year, and have passed the ANAV test, so I'm just waiting to find out when I'm going to Toronto for the aircrew medical. So, from when I...

Advice for women on BMQ and other courses [MERGED]

I wouldn't try to eat more calories to put on muscle, as there's no guarantee it's going to turn to muscle in your upper body. It could turn to fat on your hips, which would make doing pushups even harder. The only way (that I know of anyway) to get stronger is to do lots and lots of weight...

Okay, I'm not even going to write what I would like to about that, because this thread will truly sink even lower into the gutter! I'm loving the picture in my head though! ;)

Speaking for myself, I'd love to show up in something like that once in a while! Oh the ruckus we would cause!! ;D] Mind you, that's probably why that uniform would never be issued!

Sorry, forgot to respond to that question. I applied in June or so last year, did my interviews and such in November, and was told in Feb that I got in. I had done lots of the police checks, etc myself for Japan and NZ before returning to Canada. I don't know if they used them or not, but that...

Yep, teaching ESL and doing work for the Embassy. Chinups are important, as I think they'll be making us do them in basic. Good for getting your butt over the rope wall too! I love my sculpted arms! I'll never look like Linda Hamilton, but when I flex my arm it's pretty impressive! I used to...

Hi all! As far as those security clearance forms, you should try filling them out after living in 3 countries in the last 10 years, and moving more than once a year in that time! It took me almost a month to get all the info! Oh well, at least I have it now, and I'm definitely keeping a copy...

I've been living overseas for the last 15 years (New Zealand and Japan), so I really wanted to come back to Canada and work for the country. I did some work at the Canadian Embassy in Japan, and was studying Political Science at a university in NZ while I was in Japan. I've done so many jobs...

Cheeky monkey, if that's your way of calling me old, I'll bite your kneecaps off! Just kidding, I'm thankful I'm a little older that the average recruit. I'd hate to be 17-18 again, it was hard enough going through all that the first time round! Good luck all on your enrolment! I hope all your...
