Thought here,
You hire a person without the capability to do the job. The person gets hurt or worse fails to complete his/ her task resulting in a co worker getting hurt. In my world we call that failing to meet Due Diligence, and in this case the employer could be looking at the tail end of a...
Does anyone here know if there are studies that have been conducted wrt the effectiveness of the CISD process in the military?
All the data that I have had thrown at me (with the exception of material prepared by Mitchell and Snelgrove) refers to the ineffectiveness of the process.
As per...

Just finished a poll with some of my co workers at the WCB, currently we know of at least 10 PA's operating as stand alone advanced medical care primarily in the mines.
All but 3 of them are retired CF the other 3 are graduates of programs in the US and 1 from South Africa.
WRT the PA's, in the NWT we actually use civy PA's (almost all of them ex CF ) at several mine sites. In addition, both our Mine Safety Regulations and our New (proposed I should say) industrial Safety Regulations also spell out PA's as being one of the corner stones of advanced care in isolated...

Currently all southern mines...
Favorite memory Humm. Militia course in 1989. Had a young guy on the course who wanted to be a medic, wasn't to smart though. During first aid training our warrant, who also happened to be a medic kept picking on this poor lad to do demonstrations etc. One day we were doing the primary survey...
"We unconditionally forgive our captors for abducting and holding us. We have no desire to punish them. Punishment can never restore what was taken from us."
Its not their choice forgiveness is great, however by not testifying what message they are trying to send. Maybe these specific...
I used to work part time loading and unloading AC up here and it does gets to be a pain when trying to load a truck into a DASH 7 or DASH 8 combie. However the main clients for the Military Airlift support up here are Ranger instructors and cadets, and they rarely have loads that can't be...
The STOL issue with the twin may be moot. Currently 440 doesn't do allot of off strip flying, no float work and mostly workhorse duties throughout the North so the need isn't really there. In addition only 2 active runways within the North will not take the Dash ( and these are so far off the...
OJT in the basic sense of the word is to allow a member to get practical supervised experience in his/ her career. In my case I was fortunate enough to be allowed to do my OJT 4 package at 3 locations (Yellowknife/ Trenton/ Edmonton). This was in fact due to the lack of opportunity at my home...
As an aside a good resource on hypothermia is Dr. Gordon Giesbrecht from U of M, who has studied it for close to 20 years. We (CFNA) actually brought the guy up here 3 years ago to train us in Hypothermia issues
