    The Victor Davis Hanson Thread

I hate to dumb down the conversation, but is this info that I can look forward to studying?  It sounds fascinating, or is this a subject you have pursued on your own?

    Sig Op

I'm aware that the trade is distressed and obviously I expect to be filling positions that are left vacant.  But more importantly, .....why are people leaving?  Does the trade suck?  Is it too dangerous?  Or just plain Boring? Why is Sig Op a distressed trade if it's as "good" a job as...

Too Easy "The Mega" week 5

I don't want to give away too much of the "Mega" experience but if you made a policy of getting up at 5:30am, you'd be twenty minutes late for PT.  We surely did arise at 4am on many occassions.  The sooner you're ready, the sooner you can help your brothers and show up with a sense of "ease"...

JSR, I'm headed to Kingston right after the Holidays.  I"m curious, do you get to decide which Sqn you're in (what type of Sig Op work you'll specify in?).    All the items you listed sound fascinating.  Satellite link up tech would really hold my interest but computer networking seems like a...

What not to do - No excuse BMQ tips [Merged]

Gomer is the nutbar who never should have been allowed near a weapon, let alone live ammo.  We had two.  One shot at the wrong target (more than once), shot down range when there was no target to shoot at and then decided it would be a good idea to argue with the weapons instructors about the...

    Jarhead

We saw Jarhaead on a weekend out from BMQ.  It was very timely.  I think us recruits were the only ones laughing at the "GAS GAS GAS" scene. good fun. not as fun as the strippers that came after but... good fun.

Personal car at Basic, or other courses? [MERGED]

I had mine at the mega.  Very few of us did.  which translated in to a good way to make money.  If you're cheaper than a cab, everyone is your best friend.  At the mega there is at least one parking lot set aside for recruit vehicles.  No problem.

    The Quality of our Training

Fresh out of bmq at the mega, I'd have to say that the standard excellent.  Sure they could have pounded us a little harder but I don't think that was their job.  It was my understanding that along with providing a foundation from which to build upon, they were determining whether or not we...

    X=mas 2005 posting message

hmmmm, Looking for some concrete info.  Though I realize it's unlikely, I'll throw this one out there and see what happens. I have just finished bmq, graduated and departed for christmas from the Mega yesterday.  My posting message says my occupation training begins end of April in Kingston. ...

What not to do - No excuse BMQ tips [Merged]

I have just graduated from BMQ.  Wednesday of this week the school commander spoke with the graduates.  I was shocked when the first thing he said was......how many of you have been on army.ca since you started the course.  About ten hands went up.  He cautioned us against posting answers to...

"no excuse, bmq tips". well, having lived it for 7 weeks, I can finally offer some genuine insight into the items that I included in the original post of this thread. With a big thank you to army.ca for helping to calm my anxieties before I went to bmq, I must say the best tip I got was from...

    BMQ and seperation anxiety

Hang tuff there Jewelz.  Sounds like you're one heck of a supportive woman!  Way to go :) I'm at St. Jean right now, in week 8 and I must say that, as a "married with kids" recruit, all my preparation went in to PT.  I was totally blindsided by how much I missed my family.  The main thing I...
