    The Caledonia, Ontario Superthread.

I agree. Cracking heads isn't much of a solution, though some of them probably deserve it ;)

Brit Paras Want Jump Op in AFG

US Army Rangers were also involved in some jumps early on. But it involved raids on compounds = not poppy fields.

    Iran Super Thread- Merged

I don't think Iraq was a push over or Afghanistan was nothing. Anytime you operate in a foreign territory = it's a big deal.

    Canadian resolve weak: Taliban official

That pretty much sums it up, lmao.

The ROW also needs to get their butts and act before it's too late.

    Iran Super Thread- Merged

Agreed. Yet, I still don't think they'll be used in Iran (it would destabilize the ME and further polarize the various sects). LOL.

    Iran Super Thread- Merged

So what, it's no mystery that SF teams are conducting SR and working with the locals in Iran (no different than the early stages of Afghanistan and the NA). The tactical nukes seems like a bit of a stretch, even for comrade Hersh ;)

Scipio's gender based pseudo psychology thread, split from Re: Female Cdn inf soldier in Afghanistan

Scipio, Your ideas about men and women needs some work. This is old line thinking that has little relevance in today's culture.

CDN Hostage James Loney Rescued by SAS in Iraq

Sounds like a winner to me. Since the activists created the situation they should pay.

CDN Hostage James Loney Rescued by SAS in Iraq

The only reason not to wash our hands of these individuals is because there are citizenship issues involved. It it isn't the first time the military had to rescue citizens that had no business in a particular region. But it goes with International protocol. These particular hostages don't...

    Bullying

I'd be inclined to say that the CF wasn't politically correct,  but the bullying part may be a stretch ;D  I can't speak for every branch of service = but more than a few hardened kids from broken homes made it through the Infantry ranks. It was probably the best thing for them.

    Osama in Afghanistan

I think OBL was cancelled out a long time ago.

    Terrorist Nabbed North of Toronto

Pretty scary scenario = to say the least. The situation is also bad in the US. No telling how many got in.  What I'd like to see is a gov task force that specifically tracks refugees and where, warranted,  re-open cases. I'm sure there's plenty of bogus information in many of the immigration...

    Terrorist Nabbed North of Toronto

My understanding is that both Canada and the US have closed the loopholes on refugee status. But it doesn't address the terrorist element that have already infiltrated. This is the critical issue that must be addressed on both sides of the border.

Communist Canada? and a Nation without a army

Tweed, I seriously doubt Canada will be invaded anytime soon = so don't lose any sleep over it. The way I see it North America looks like it's merging as one nation. Almost like what happened in Europe.

How could immigration screening not pick up a phony name?  Please ::)

Excellent points. It's not much different than wearing a police uniform= IMO. Or selling them.

    Anti-War Demonstrations - Halifax

Infantry-W Though I don't agree with some of the points in your post = I appreciate your speaking your mind. Looking back, I think the Bush administration did the right thing by invading Iraq. It will draw in terrorist-combatants for years to come and is an excellent staging area into other...

CDN Hostage James Loney Rescued by SAS in Iraq

Not sure what you mean, but I don't that those that were saved were against the military. The main problem is that most missionary types have minimal training in targeted violence or threat accessment, so they often become easy targets. [EDIT for Code Problem with Quote.]
