And is the $200 during BMQ only, or the same during SQ and QL3's? I read on another thread that rations alone were around $300-$350/month depending on the base.

I'm still thinking and hoping it will be St. Jean, however Borden makes more sense logistically. The CF wouldn't need to pay for a flight, but like you said you never know! I'm prepared to go anywhere...
Ghostwalk, are you talking reserve or regs? Up till now I thought St. Jean was the only place that reg force BMQ was held.
Esquimalt would be nice as well, I lived there back in '97...
Hmmm...I suppose being from Toronto I'll be sent to Borden? I was looking forward to St. Jean! At least I'll have my car there and be able to go home on weekends.

Just a guess, but I would think that in any selection board they would select as many suitable candidates as possible until there are no spots remaining. I can't see a reason why they would stagger hiring throughout the year for a specific MOC if it can be done in one selection process.

I had a third reference form filled out and also had another reference from my captain in the Coast Guard Auxiliary, but they did not want either since I had already handed in the required 2. I did mention these in the interview though; the interviewer said that even though they do not need them...
According to the info given by the CFRC and on the recruiting website for Combat Engineers, the driver training is in Borden. However, looking at it again, it's after BMQ and SQ not between them as I stated earlier.
I was under the impression there is 2 weeks of Driver Training in Borden between BMQ and SQ. I guess once things become a little more clear I'll decide.
If you're interested in eventually going SAR, I have have been told by a current 131 that these courses will help on the application. They may expire by the time you apply, but you can easily renew later. They will also look great on your initial military application.
