'Lady P' bids her regiment goodbye

Any chance this thread could be merged with "Lady Patricia" in the Military History thread? :salute:

"Combat Days" in WW1 and 2 vs. today

Even with this statement F.L, you are showing lack of knowledge to some degree.  The U.S Civil War was technically the war that brought mass butchery into it's own.  The Great War merely put it onto the world stage.  The American Civil war showed the advent of everything the Great War was...

WOW! 10, 000 posts for George Wallace

Hats off to you George......... I don't know how you're still married. My wife's always nitpicking that I spend too much time on Army.ca, and I've only spent a little under 8 days total on the site in a year and a half. I opened Goerge's statistics and the numbers are staggering: Date...

What's going on? George had 9,993 posts when I woke up this morning, then an hour ago he dropped down to 9,991 and now he's at 9,990........ he's regressing! Is this some sort of funky Y2K bug taking George out?

    Lady Patricia

93 years of the PPCLI......... only two Honourary Colonels, Princess Patricia of Connaught and the outgoing Lady Patricia Mountbatten..... There's some mighty big shoes for Adrienne Clarkson to try and fill........... Good luck to her.

"Combat Days" in WW1 and 2 vs. today

Typical answer from a professional soldier............. Well, I'm going to go ahead and say it Wes. You and every other allied serviceman/woman who have had the guts to step foot in Iraq are brave.  Your comment there is very typical of a professional who doesn't want to be seen as puffing up...

"Combat Days" in WW1 and 2 vs. today

No biggie, but if we want to get nitpicky we cannot overlook the contribution of the RCAF and the RCN who were locked in combat nearly from the get-go.  ;) The other factor that should be examined in this thread is in World War II, Canada mobilized 1.08 million.  That was an astounding 1 in 10...

"Combat Days" in WW1 and 2 vs. today

Not even close to being true................. It is true that we lost 60,000 killed, but it certainly wasn't over a longer period of time. World War I flared up in the last week of July 1914 and raged until November 1918 for a total of 51 months of hostilities. The first Canadian formation sent...

    Vimy

One major reason is it was the first major offensive undertaken by the four Division's of the Canadian Corps acting together.  It was not the Canadian colonials under the patronage of the British Army, but the citizens of Canada in the Canadian Army accomplishing a huge feat. It's an old cliche...

    Cadet long service medal

Just curious, I see there's one for the Army & Air cadets, but is there one for the Sea cadets as well? Seems kinda odd that the Army & Air cadets would have one and the senior branch wouldn't........... Regards

    Any favourite BMQ memories?

Oh yes......... A drill class in the big HD4 drill hall at CFLRS.  Our platoon Sergeant calling us out one at a time to recieve an "award" (We were practising falling out of the ranks to go to the front and recieve an "award, promotion etc.")  The Sergeant calls out a name, buddy comes to...

    PAT leave & Pension

Well, I did voluntarily have my taxes left as they normally would be, just so I don't get boned come tax time next year.  On my pay stubs now, there's a new "Extra Federal Taxes" amount that was never there before with $375.00 being that extra amount, which added with my DND pay Federal Tax & EI...
