Canadian Special Forces and Light Infantry in World War Two`

I don't think only "elite" units were very good- the combat performance of plenty of Canadian, British, American (and South African) line units proves this and I would never deny it. I admit maybe my argument wasn't thought out properly. It's probably more applicable to the US Army than the...

Canadian Special Forces and Light Infantry in World War Two`

I was talking about those veteran German officers and NCOs who were still around. Yes many of their units were sub-standard by this time, made up of either raw recruits (though some of them weren't too bad) or unwilling Eastern Europeans, but some of them were still bloody good (1st SS Panzer...

    Resignations over unification

I was recently reading a book about the  British night fighter ace J.R.D. "Bob" Braham, the most highly decorated Brit/Commonwealth  fighter pilot of the war (29 victories, DSO and Two Bars, DFC and Two Bars). Braham transferred to the RCAF in the early 1950s and attained the rank of Group...

Canadian Special Forces and Light Infantry in World War Two`

While I would never denigrate the British Commonwealth infantryman of WW2, all the Allied armies came increasingly to rely on massive artillery and air bombardment as the war progressed. Talking specifically about Canadians, remember most of the senior generals by this stage were gunners...

    assault rifles

Is the C7CT being used in the Canadian Army as the equivalent of the US SPR ie as a DMR system at the section/platoon level, or as a spotter's weapon in sniper teams (or both?). Also there was a picture of an AR-10 in Canadian service posted a few months ago- where is this weapon being used?

Tac Vest does not make the grade.

How do GPMG/C6 teams usually carry their ammo? I've seen the 7.62 100rnd and 200rnd pouches from London Bridge Trading. Does anybody actually use them? It amazes me to still see troops from all armies with belts of 7.62 link wound all around them.

Variant of C7A2, the Different Canadian Sniper Rifle and C9A2

Couple of questions 1 Couple of questions 1. Why issue the C7CT as well as the AR10T- aren't they basically the same weapon? Or is one 5.56 and the other 7.62? 2. Can the C8A2 mount an M203? Thanks in advance o

Variant of C7A2, the Different Canadian Sniper Rifle and C9A2

Most armies seem to now prefer the Minimi/SAW/C9 with short barrel and collapsible stock- the ParaMinimi is the only one used by the Uk, France and several other countries, and is now appearing with the US Army in Iraq.

    9mm Browning Replacement

Have seen quite a few pics of 3 PPCLI in Afghanistan with pistols, who would be issued them, looks mainly like officers and machine gunners. Going off-topic a bit, what is the establishment of a Cdn rifle platoon, 3 PPCLI‘s all seem to be of different sizes, due to personnel shortage?
