Conflict in Darfur, Sudan - The Mega Thread

Just a note Anyone who has an idea of what my trade does must be a little inquisitive and wondering if I broke OPSEC perhaps. We were going there totally on the books, not doing any spooky stuff.....

Conflict in Darfur, Sudan - The Mega Thread

More of an observer capabilility, the GoS is hesitant to have any troops at all of course......the AU is sending some 300 troops to theDarfur region, but thats a whole different cup of tea.  Our mission involves strictly the Govt of Sudan (GoS) and the Sudanese Peoples Liberation Movement/Army...

Conflict in Darfur, Sudan - The Mega Thread

Correction, I am not going to deploy on OP SAFARI, someone decided to shitcan it at the last second....as per usual there are now less than 5 Canadian ppl going to Sudan, however, most notably, BGen Greg Mitchell (commander of SHIRBRIG and an RCR infantry officer) will be on the ground...

Conflict in Darfur, Sudan - The Mega Thread

Canada is sending less than 10 ppl, mostly staff officers with SHIRBRIG HQ next month to Sudan.  It is called Op Safari, I know this, because I happen to be one of the 10 going.

Enhanced Reliability Check (ERC) - Merged

Quite correct Willy..... The interviews and such get really in depth when you're applying for Top Secret and above clearances.  Top Secret material is designated as material which could cause extreme damage to national security should it be disclosed to the wrong person(s).  And once you get...

Enhanced Reliability Check (ERC) - Merged

Security clearances can take a while, that's for sure.  I only waited six months for my Level III (and above) , however I know some ppl in my trade who are still waiting, going on 2 years for it.  CSIS also prioritizes clearances, for example, a Comm Rsch Pte waiting for his QL3 (which requires...

    Frustration and venting.

mua hahahaa Arctic Acorn....I think I know the pretty boy you're talking about... The recruitment process sucks plain and simple...I did a component transfer to the Reg Force and it took over 6 months...and I was already in the Reserves.  And once I became Reg Force, I sat on PAT (Pers Awaiting...

    The Haiti Super Thread- Merged

I don't remember anyone taking Scott Taylor seriously anyhow....he writes some good stuff.....however, he may be a little bitter methinks Now that being said, there are a fair share of portly and out of shape service personnel in the NCR.  However, I don't think the percentage of under-PT-ed...

Uganda calling the U.N. - Where are you?

:salute: Bravo Zulu for that Willy, I'm just about to deploy to that area in particular....attitudes like that should'nt and for the most part, would'nt be condoned in the CF.

Uganda calling the U.N. - Where are you?

Sudan is having trouble with the LRA as well.  Kony has been raiding the South of Sudan frequently but I thought most of his bases and staging areas were in Uganda.

Operation Iris...Canada in Iraq in a supporting role?

The only Canadians officially in Iraq are ones serving on exchange with US Forces.  There are`nt many.  There could be a few staff officers or something serving in the CENTCOM HQ but other than that, we have not committed any ground forces.
