Turmoil in Libya (2011) and post-Gaddafi blowback

200 people killed by their government. Open gunfire in the streets. A funeral being shot up. Scary stuff in my books. Not to mention this only ads to the already unstable regions of the Middle East.  This is old news so to speak, but the story is just another reminder as to how terrible that...

    New ships (cheap)

I see what you are saying and agree somewhat, but we are nearly there right now. The algonqin is alongside with a bent prop shaft. And the other 280 are clinging to life. I just believe that we need to hurt for a little bit before we can feel good. As a member of the Navy, it is really tough to...

    Ship's Diving Officer

This is just for anyone who is looking for intel on the course. And I know that I will be repeating facts that have already been mentioned. The STD ( Ships Team Diver ) course is a difficult one. This is a pre- req to becoming a CL DVR. It is primarily focused on PT. The instructors are almost...

    New ships (cheap)

I can say that we need to have the latest and greatest if we want to be a competitive navy. The army got the new ML upgrade as well as ILTIS replacements, and new combats, new weapons, new tanks, and new support systems ( rightfully so). The Air Force has received the Globemasters (thank god)...

Pocket-sized 'hummingbird' drone aims to flutter into enemy territory

ya, that is something else eh? I think that there should be particular interest in insects/birds that are capable of hovering, for obvious reasons. So many applications.

Pocket-sized 'hummingbird' drone aims to flutter into enemy territory

Good video of it in flight. There is one that had the creator holding it in his hand as well. I will post the link soon.

Aerospace Control Operator ( AC Op )

Thanks so much airmich. That was exactly the info I was looking for. Just to clarify, I work mon to fri 8-3 and at sea, 5 on 5 off 7 on 7 off. Is that still the same that you were referring to? It's for my friend who just joined the forces. He is in BMQ right now as an AC OP. He is really stoked...

Pocket-sized 'hummingbird' drone aims to flutter into enemy territory

I am aware of the fact that this is a prototype. I think you need not limit yourself to what is on this forum as this is not the only publication on the matter. The video of the interview from the BBC with the creator of this ROV went on to show that it has a camera built into the body of the...

Pocket-sized 'hummingbird' drone aims to flutter into enemy territory

Saw the video today. That thing looks cool. Don't know who will buy it seeing as how the area it is used must have an indigenous hummingbird population to be effective. I suppose that it could be applied to a different airframe for night ops. Cool idea for sure.
