    Military and Stampede

As far as I know, Tecumsehis going to be there. At least when the public affairs officer for the unit asked if I wanted to help at stampede, this was what she was talking about.

    Arctic/Offshore Patrol Ship AOPS

I think that the abilities of the crews of the a/ops need to be considered too.  Generally, it is sounding like reservists will make up a significant portion of the crew.  Systems need to be simple enough that they can be learned and understood over a relatively short period of time.  Taking the...

    Arctic/Offshore Patrol Ship AOPS

They might not transfer the 40mm by paying off the MCDVs, but if the crew is going to be a mix of reg force and shads, where else will they find reservists to crew the a/opvs?

    Military Intelligence - Primary Reserves

Even if you are on a "done at 4 navy reserve" course, many of them require some serious homework to be done in the off hours in order to make the course more condensed.

Battlestar Galactica (Beware....Possible SPOILERS! read at your own risk)

What if Tyrol isn't the kid's father?  Personally, I was leaning towards Ellen (Tigh's wife) being a cylon.  First, she and Tigh don't have any kids, which could mean she is a cylon; there was that episode where Ellen shows up baltar says to head-six that he would never tell what her test...

    Destroyer Replacement Program

The trouble with heavily armoured battleships is that they are still vulnerable to torpedoes, which strike below the waterline of the ship.  When submarine scares hit the Royal Navy in the early 1900s, there were a nubmer of attempts to "torpedo proof" ships.  The attempt ended with the "torpedo...

Battlestar Galactica (Beware....Possible SPOILERS! read at your own risk)

Centurions (and I assume raiders) cannot tell the difference between different copies of the same model, merely that something is (or isn't) a cylon, and which model.  I figure that raiders/centurions just had some hidden program that activates if they encounter one of the final five, though...

    Clearance diver

I agree, strictly Class A would take a while.  However, for someone who was extremely committed to getting the remuster as soon as possible, if he went perma-shading for most of those 4 years, he could get it done pretty quick, as full time sailing would finish any OJPRs he had for his courses. ...

    Clearance diver

It depends on the reserve division and the recruiting people in question.  Up until now, the naval reserve was not accepting any direct entry as a diver; you had to accept something else (bosn, meso, navcom, nciop, cook etc...) first, get qualified, then remuster.  Some people say that this...

coming out of university and joining enlisting as an NCM?

On a side note, with regards to the NCM with degrees, one of the most remarkable things that I found when sailing on MCDVs is that, like many reservists, people joined for help through school, and stayed in the reserves when they graduated.  However, this gives a tremendous quantity of...

    Calling All MESOs

I hand't heard they cancelled COJT.  Hmm, do you know why?  I was only vaguely involved with it last summer, but at least what I heard (from the students) was that it was for the most part, pretty good, and certainly better than years past.

    Calling All MESOs

I'm pretty sure we are using OJT correctly.  My understanding (bassed on what he said) was that after he finished his NETP and QL1, he wanted 3 weeks of OJT.  I agree that those 6 weeks of GD are not OJT.  Like everyone else, he will need to finish his OJPR package.  Thus, I would interpret time...

    Calling All MESOs

Good luck with the OJT.  I've been given OJT several times only to have it taken away and given COJT instead, which has its ups and downs.  From my (limited) understanding, OJT is pretty rare these days, and with only three weeks available, you are much more likely to get COJT.

    Military Urban Legends

Well, they have satellites with ground penetrating radar (its how they found all the soviet ICBM silos in the Cold War).  I don't see why it couldn't be on a helicopter, but then again, I know very little.

RMC Officer Sues to Avoid Saluting, Toasting Queen?

I just finished reading Justice Barnes' opinion.  While a little dull, it was certainly well written and helped put a few complaints that others in uniform often make into perspective.
