funny, nobody in the system ever asked why I got out and I'd actually written down all my points and put them into a bit of a speach/answer so I'd know how to answer.
I know another gent who has been out as long as me, was the same trade and he has to write an essay for the Military Career...
My experience is that if they grow up with it from a young age, they adapt to the moves etc quite well. I do know members with teen's who have had some problems if there's a posting but that usually blows over once the child stops holding their breath and pulls their fingers out of their ears...
Family is family. Friends come and go, if they are your family, they'll love and respect you no matter what...as stated, your life, you decide.
I joined as soon as I turned 17. Mom was not happy, I'm a better man for it and Mom is extremely proud of my accomplishments in life. I could NOT have...
Jodie is the guy at home chasing your girl. Generic name.....
got this off a wiki...
"The mythical Jodie refers to a civilian who remains at home instead of joining the military service. Jodie is often presumed to be medically unfit for service, a 4F in World War II parlance. Jodie also lacks...
I just finished watching the last episode of season 2...a couple episodes were a little too Macgyver for me, but it's hollywood, right? A few times I was waiting for Chuck Norris to cameo as the lead of Delta Force...lol.
US Navy used to think the same thing, but now they've started experimenting with it on their current aviators http://www-nmcsd.med.navy.mil/news/news_view.cfm?nrid=258.
All three US combat arms offer it to their servicemen at government expense...
To actually add something useful, one of my many ex wives was a service member. She enrolled as a single mother, had family take care of the two young ones until she got her first posting and did just fine. The military community is large, babysitters are easy to find, even when you need to go...
No, you're not nuts. The recruiting centers are getting lots of re-enrollee's..me being one of them. I'm 42, been through the process, just waiting the offer of employment.
good luck.
wonder when the common sense will hit about lasik.....seems odd that it's ok to protect your investment by letting pilot get lasik while you exclude a candidate who had it.
Is Borden a base where they let single pers occupy married quarters? I know when I was in Edmonton that singles often occupied the row housing in Griesbach.
Another fantastic show. It goes into how contractors are basically raping the american public for the contract jobs that military folks would normally do over in Iraq.
I can't believe they would contract out mess hall, turning chow time into a 1 to 2 hour wait in line, no water treatment...
I had started watching season 2 first..but stopped once season one had finished downloading....very very dissapointed that the Col turned out to be what the yanks like to call "Jody".
Still a good show..it's keeping me up at night. I like the fact they bring to light some real situations too...
you need to do yourself a favour and dive tobermory, if you haven't done...we did that one too. It was a fantastic dive week.
When we dove Navy Bay, we left the cannon balls. Too heavy. Story is that some were from warfare and most were from ceremonial firings from decades gone by.
When I was an Army Cadet, many moons ago, I took the summer Cadet SCUBA course at CFB Borden. We did a trip to RMC and dove Navy Bay. It was a riot. We found cannon balls and all kinds of crap. One of the guys found a sword and donated it to the RMC museum...worst part was the silt in the...
Is that place still open where you can dance on the Bar...wooot...there was another that on Thursday nights, you paid $20 to get in and could drink your fill from 9 -12....made friday morning french course a little ugly.
1) How did they calculate your pay, incentive etc. I know there's a formula, what i'm looking for is how it was applied in your situation.(If you were 'skilled')
2) When did you do your first PT test? I did not do one at the recruiting center.
3) Did you have to re-do the swim test?
I finally took in an episode a couple weeks ago, liked it so much I downloaded season 1 and 2.
They sure have nice PMQ's...almost as nice as the one I had in Summerside, PEI....NOT!!!!...
