BTW, having reread Susan's article above, it seems to me a relatively neutral retelling of events - not particularly excitedm compared to others.

Now, now...    ::) Anyway, the fawning likely isn't doing Trudeau any favours.  The criticism will serve him better in the long run, IMO.

NHL 2011/2012 - Now "The Lockout" Thread

If you're right about the salaries of the displaced players, then agreed 100%.  In the meantime - playoff baseball is about to start in MLB.

I think you have a good point - I don't know about the Liberals, but the NDP can be very narrow-minded about this kind of thing.  As a leftie, it annoys me to no end.

Your point "a" proves my point as well - that this wouldn't even be necessary in any other major party, because it would never have come up in the first place.  I doubt the action of defeating such motions wholly undoes the negative effects of their being raised at all, in spite of the PM's best...

NHL 2011/2012 - Now "The Lockout" Thread

I was of that mind too, for a while, but then thought - if a principle is worth sticking your ground for, even when there's no money involved, then maybe it's worth it when there's LOTS of money too.  Maybe one or both sides have a valid principle despite all their money.  After all, if the rich...

With subtle words of encouragement (a.k.a. GTF On With It) to the warring parties, the Great One expresses a hunch that we'll be back on before the new year.  All right, then:  we should be ok!  http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/story/2012/10/01/sp-nhl-labour-talks-wayne-gretzky-optimistic.html

A matter of opinion, of course.  Those examples have both social and financial implications - particularly the EI - and they have both positive and negative potential ramifications for our society, depending on whom you talk to.  I should have been more specific; I was thinking of things like...

There are many instances in which CF and PS entitlements differ.  Just on my last claim I found out that civ employees can take their personal vehicle even if it's not the most cost-efficient method, whereas mil mbrs are obliged to do an elaborate comparison of at least 3 travel options ahead of...

I have to agree with ballz - my sense is that there's little appetite for the socially conservative policies that you see coming out from time to time, from the CPC.  Now if only there were a socially progressive and fiscally conservative party...  ;) Getting rather tired of hearing about that...
