As a dual citizen I actually have two different opinions on this.
As a Canadian, I'm indifferent to the monarchy
As a British citizen. I'm in favour of a gradual removal of the monarchy.
It it has to be gradual otherwise you might just end up with Oliver Cromwell again.
WW I Battle Honours have been awarded via "perpetuation" perhaps this is a precedent that could be cited. See "Siberia" battle honour.
Edit for missing word
This is from a secondary "meta" source "The World War One Databook" by Ellis and Cox. No indication as to primary source
It is isn't gender specific but gives
Total military Killed, Wounded and Missing 5,714,500 and c. 40,000 Civilian Deaths
Hope this is of some help
One could argue that the Canadian contribution to NATO in Germany was the most successful "peacekeeping" operation ever undertaken by Canada as the peace was most definitely kept.
And more
Harper to attend military's Arctic sovereignty exercise
Out of curiosity does the prime minister have a formal military position in the chain of command?
It is not even clear in Historical Section report 83 how much of either battalion even made it to Siberia. Not one mention of the 259th Battalion in that report.
Authorized force was;
“B” Squadron H.C.N.N.N.A. (Cavalry)
85th Battery C.F.A.
16th Field Company C.E.
6th Signal Company
260th...
Sounds like you have an interesting task ahead of you.
I would guess that somewhere there are enrolment lists for the Voltigeurs (Quebec provincial archives ?). Perhaps there is some detail on J. Chretien (military) that can tie to J. Chretien (family).
Just a comment on the academic discipline "Life Sciences". At Queen's, it is a distinct program recognized all but officially as Pre-Med and is definitely not the same as say Biology or Biochemistry.
Reading the last link, the battalion is identified as the 13th reserve bn which accords to the notes I have
by my notes
commanding dates are
104th Bn (New Brunswick) are 28 jan 1916 - 22 jan 1917
and
13th reserve Bn 2 jan 1917 - 9 july 1917
The 104th was on paper part of the 15th Bde, 5th...
Should have know some one else would have posted it.
Just to post something the 13th CEF Btn is perpetuated by the The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada.
Perhaps there is something in their archives?
