Was out there as well for my first ever 1/2 marathon. Great times! The best atmosphere you can ask for. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Just make sure to do some training for it. I am sore as hell today. ;D

Well I'm working to join the Reserve NCM Combat Engineers at age of 28. Any thoughts on that? Don't mind the younger guys and assuming extra responsibility if necessary, but just hoping there will be a few people my age to relate more closely to.

Don't join the military because your friend is joining. More than likely, you will not serve together. You will probably not even join at the same time. Also, you will sign a contract which will require you to serve several years, so you should decide for yourself if it's what you want to do...
