Who owns it? The community, individuals, families?
What about all of the land currently under claim?
They did this once in the states and because of the economic status of some of the reservations they immediately sold off most of their land to maintain an operating budget. Some of the...
I am surprised i didn't see a thread on this (unless I missed one,).
Do you think the Conservative move to tax Income Trusts was a good or bad political move?
Emphasis on political.
Thank god you are not in charge.
I find it interesting when casual uniformed observers say, "They (Native people) were conquered, they need to deal with reality! Suck it up" etc. Then they incessantly whine like little babies when society does something they dislike, when someone else's...
How is this for one law (this ties in with the land claims thread).
My band is currently negotiating with the province of Manitoba for land claims settlements. The process began in the early 90's, its called Treaty Land Entitlement (TLE) and recognized (in our community anyway) numbers were...
I don't see any greed here, except that displayed by developers that do not recognize justice, and lazy beaurocrats that will only act when confronted with a media crisis.
Canada was never "taken" from Native people, it was legally tranfered through negotiated agreements. Legal agreements that...
You guys completely lost me.

I've tried a whole bunch of different slings and still prefer the 2 point bungee inside webbing trick. It keeps wpn tight to your body, you can swing it around easily and its easy to bring up to high ready.
Are our laws being applied equally?
No definitely not.
Government of Canada makes agreements and selectively chooses to disregard them at times that are convenient to Canada. Winnipeg city rightfully belongs to the Metis as an example. Many many agreements, law abiding agreements, have been...
I wanted to add to the positive reviews of Daves Surplus.
