    Our Opinion

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am usually shy and reserved while having difficulty to talk to large groups (this pause is for them to commence their laughter now).  I have noticed that my civilian friends have been asking me my thoughts and opinions on Afghanistan and whether or not we should...

Holy crow JSR.  Talk about a home coming.  I am no longer at the regiment but have gone to some base functions and noticed half the people I worked with there in the 90s are back!!!  What's up with that?

Yes, hehehehe. (by the way, that is my evil laugh) You may miss the boat this time to the sandbox though as you will not get the training in time for the deployment.  Things aren't as rosy as they appear.  War has no glamour except in the movies. You will probably start off in the CP or Rover...

Signal Operator Breakdown & Deployment Duties?

1st, you got posted static off your 3s????? 2nd, A typical job is the CP as mentioned earlier but I just got back from the Sandbox and they had sig ops off their 3s at the FOBs.  I trained some of them on some new kit we delivered out to Martello.  You also have the opertunity to go with the...

Does anyone out there know anything about the upcoming Sig Op QL 6A?

Yes, folks, I did use my contacts and as JSR Op pointed out, there is not much on it even at the school.  By the way, this is a source that I use often for info as some people in this forum are more forthcoming with info.  I wish I could have checked this while out playing in the Sandbox but the...

    Sig Op hopefuls out there

Obviously, you have failed to keep in contact with him for at least a year and a half as Homer was promoted a Jan 05 and posted to Pet Jul 06 as Cnd Sig makes reference to.  The good guy is correct though. Cnd Sig, You prepping to go to the big sandbox?

    Comm Reservists in Afghanistan

Currently, MT7 has 2 reservists with them in KAF.  I think the best bet to get a tour is to ask to go to JSR.  They take several reservists every year and never seam to get enough.  Talk to your chain of command and you should find out how to apply for it.

Speaking of silly things, this guy at supply in KAF told us he could not give us IR flags because he never had any.  He gave us the infrared ones instead.  lol.  (you may think I am joking but this actually happened).  Well Mohamad is calling, got to go. Since we are on a sandy topic, I should...

    DART

Correct and correction to my earlier post.  Being at JSR I forget that not everyone is just looking at the NRL comms.  You guys provide the comms for the internal part of the mission.  Most of our guys can't tell the difference between the Rad B and Rad D.

    SIG OP AFTER MOC

Normally, you will go to the Regiment in Kingston or a Signals Squadron in one of the Bdes.  That being said, some people are getting posted from the school to units such as RCR, PPCLI, Arty, etc.  Just don't count on it but don't rule it out either.
