Are you a component transfer?  If you are, you should have to turn in all your kit and receive it in Kingston anyways.  Get use to the '82 pattern as some units only let you wear that one.  Try to fit in rather than stand out, were what everyone else is.

VHF was not nearly as dangerous as HF except at very high power levels.  It is still not a good idea to get in the habit of touching an antenna while it is transmitting when you have the possibility to touch something with more power.

SQs use to be left up to the units to do for all but combat arms units up until 6 mos ago.  At that point they decided to have the schools (battle schools that is) run them to get some consistancy in the trg.

A year or two ago, it switched back to Borden so I am unsure what the length of time.  Enjoy it as it is not as intence as your signal course.

You could go over to sigs platoon in either the arty or infantry.  I have some friends that work there.  I also have some friends who work at the commcen who are pretty good.  They could give you the low down on the trade better than getting it from us on line.
