    Sig Op Course

They still have PATs in Kingston but just a platoon or less.  They don't want to wait for them if they drop someone from  a course and need someone to fill in.  The majority is still in Borden though.

CT=Component Transfer I believe there is no bigger problem transferring to regs as there is for an NCO.  You could check with a recruiter to find out exactly what you have to do.  You may even be able to get them to pay for part of your university.

    new Sig Op!

I am still waiting to get my medal. ???  I hope to get it before I end up back there. lol Remember that the "UN" pay is based on about 6 different factors of which foreign service premium and danger incentives are two of the biggest.  I will get about 2500 for the next tour if I go back there.

Tactical combat casualty care ( TCCC )

I am amazed that this topic is still near the top.  It is great to see and I hope to someday take the course.

    Hobbies

I can show you a hundred photos in airport including those in ISREAL, SYRIA, Canada, USA, Croatia, etc, etc.  Just don't take pictures of military aircraft or sensitive areas such as security points.  Thinking is the hardest for everyone.  If you think it may not be allowed, don't take the picture.

Will the latest Federal Budget do anything?

Yeah, remember what Molrony promised us with the white paper? Sooooo, how many nuclear subs do we have? Anyway, I hope this is a real start to the commitment to the military.

    new Sig Op!

Canadian Sigs, Aren't you still worried about the numbers?  Roto 0, Roto 4, etc, lol.  Or maybe $46 000, $54 000 or higher. Still looking forward to tour #4 for myself.

HF - Lost art or Lost Cause

I think that the more we change the way we do things, the more we will eventually go back to HF as a back up.  They are talking that HF is a Fourth line back up next to the MT, Inmarsat, Iridium then HF.  I still feel it is training well spent but lots of people disagree with me.  They are...

    SigOp overseas

Obviously not too closely Sigspigs.  lol. We do go on patrols when required and actually are front and centre when it comes to SDS and disptch riders.  I was the Fwd CP in Afghanistan and was out 3-4 times a week mainly to TV Hill and back.  My friends that went to Bosnia drove all over the...

All things Joint Sigs Regt/JSR (merged)

I am currently at JSR and would strongly suggest that you don't go there first.  You will lose a lot of the training that you have done with TCCCS and would get spoiled by the way things are run at CFJSR.  The "technology" is not that advanced and TCCCS is much more complicated.  I was in Pet up...

    SigOp Kit

Both have benefits and drawbacks.  The TV is limited to the amount of "extras" that you can put into it but is much more compatible with wearing a rucksack.  The Webbing carried a lot more but had to empty the butt pack if you wanted to be comfortable wearing it with the ruck.  I had the webbing...

    Deployment

If you don't have a clearance, you should not be on pre-deployment trg.  That is one of the items to select people before they go on training to relieve people who had to be replaced on tour.

    waiting for training

I would argue that Golan is a horrible first tour as you get spoiled.  It should be a reward tour for someone later in their career.  You should experience life in Afghanistan, Bosnia, Rwanda, etc before going to Golan, MFO or any other "Club Med" site.

What is the best training exercise you were ever on relating to sigs?

Which Iridium, 9500 or 9505?  I love the iridium.  I use it as a comms link when I deploy for orders away from my det.  They can contact me via the inmarsat or I can contact them.  I have never used the secure sleave though.
