    AGE Questions

If you want to do you university degree through ROTP, it's a good idea to start your application this Fall. The recruiting process is fairly long, and the program is competitive. Your recruiting centre will be able to tell you about dates and deadlines and such. Good luck!

    A dream come true...

Well done! Good luck with BMQ and your career. :) I'm also glad to hear that your mom is ok... watching a loved one fighting cancer is tough, and let me tell you, that did make me cry more than once too. Cheers!

Does all your BOTC kit stay with you upon graduation?

My brother is Navy, and had to give back pretty much all of his "Army related" gear (CADPAT, helmet, rucksack, webbing, etc.), except for his combat boots, t-shirts, and possibly other trinkets he didn't tell me about. Obviously, he kept his Navy kit and got more during NETPO, like cheeky_monkey...

    Thyroid Condition

Just so you know, I used to have a hypoactive thyroid condition under control with medication, and was turned down from the CF. Only once that medical condition was resolved (I know most doctors say it's impossible, but hey, it happened) and didn't have to take medications anymore could I start...

    Third time's the charm

downrightGuppy, I know exactly what you mean; I really enjoy the success stories on this board! I'm really happy to know you've made it too despite the setback, and I wish you a great military career. (... by the way, there's a great quote that says, when translated from the French: "The one who...

    Third time's the charm

Thanks!  ;D Can you still do training on evenings and weekends with your unit while you're waiting? You see, if I'm to wait until January, I wish I could hang around the reserve unit to learn more about the trade! Anyway, best of luck to you and let me know when you're off for BMOQ! :) MrJimi...

Excited but yet a little discouraged

I understand your frustration, but from my cadet experience and from what my brother (doing his MOC training in the Navy) and my childhood friend (Log O in the Army) have told me, "hurry up and wait" is the one of the CF's unofficial motto.  We all have to deal with that during our...

    Third time's the charm

Well, I've been a lurker long enough, and I want to join the ranks of the hopeful applicants waiting for their phone call, so here's my little story... I was an Air Cadet for seven years, and during that time I decided I was meant for military service. I applied for ROTP to go to RMC starting...

    CFRC Montreal

Exactly. I also want to add that when you're waiting for a call to schedule your different appointments, it doesn't hurt to ask for updates (without ranting or nagging, of course!). The staff's there to help you get in (everyone I've talked to seemed to care), so if you're keen and ask...

    recruitment contracts

I have read the annex, but thanks! At first I got TOS and obligatory service confused, but I got it now. So what I understand from the DAOD, there is obligatory service only if someone has had uni studies subsidized, pilot training or a recruitment allowance (docs and dentists). Got it! Now I...

    recruitment contracts

Well, I'm going to revive this thread, as I've read the ADM(HR-MIL) Instruction 05/05, read different threads on this topic on this board and called my recruiting centre about it, and I'm still confused as I get somewhat contradictory information. The ADM(HR-MIL) documents do not mention any...
