I am a MCpl recently posted to Valcartier as a PMed Tech, and am almost fluently billingual. although I am not in a leadership role (PMed base rank is MCpl), I have had to work with the militia on exercise (in Mississippi) where almost none of the Medics spoke english. During one incident (no...

Keep in mind too that you are going to one of the strictest schools on base. The mods are a great place to live...just remember that you WILL be inspected... don't wreck the place on weekends. Also remember that there are approximately 30 mods within the bldg. Not all from the same school. When...
I can add the medical side to this... There was talk a couple of years ago of turning the medical trades army. This does makes sense since the majority of medical personnel are posted to the Fd Ambs. Where it went from talk I have no clue. In the medical trades it doesnt really matter what...
Hey everyone,
this came to my attention earlier today and I beleive its a worthwhile cause. Our military history is starting to come to a resurgence and I bleieve the loss of his medals would be a step backwards for the CFHSvs, CF and the Canadian public....
from the following website...
The original reason for soldiers have short hair was indeed hygiene. It made de-lousing quite a bit easier for the precurser of my trade who were responsible for the de-lousing section. Obviously time and hygien levels have changed but there still is a hygiene reason for the short hair (ie one...
Word of advice too... a pet peeve of mine is people standing up at someone else march past. I attended a CIC mess diner (I taught cadets part-time) and a bunch of OCdts stood up for my march past... the glare from my eyes got them to sit down. We also stole 2 gables, the board , a hammer and a...
It stands for Preventive Medicine Technician... it is a specialty trade within the medical world. You must be a medic QL5 to request a remuster to it. It is basically the militarys version of a public health inspector with added skills like pest control.
The other reason Medical Pers need to do MLOC is the simple fact that you must make the weapn safe prior to treating the patient, decreases the risk of an "accident" happening. In addition to this, when the shit hits the fan I want to be able to work all the weapons... i think you could allow...
To expand further... I was speaking to an American Col. while in Kabul and it goes back to the U.S. Calvary... in honour of them charging on horse back.
In case anyone is interrested the 5ie Ambulance de Compagne will be granted the freedom of the City of Levis on Sunday 19 Sept 04. I beleive that this is in recognition of it's 35th anniversary??? Anyway if your in the area it's bound to be a good show!!!
Militi Securimus & Hygeia
Although I am out of the Med Tech trade I have the chance to view the issue from outside/ex-medic eyes.... and ex-militia also. The problems with the CFHSvsGp right now is both in the regs and the res. The simple fact is that they have to concentrate on one side first then fix the other. Right...
The thing I noticed about the "New QL3" courses is that they tend to do most of the training in BC then sit around the canteen alot. Just remember the BC portion isn't as easy as some people think... alot of info in a short period of time. You will get some "cock" at the shool, play the game...
Simple solution to this is:
1. Go to the training cell of your unit/tasking/tour and ask for a guide to foreign ranks. I received one while in Afghanistan and I was only there for a month and a half.
2. Ask the people in other countries uniform what rank they are. I did this in Afghanistan when...
I concur with the previos post... they will show you everything you need to know...wait on that, everything the books tell them you need to know. The instructors are there to help you and will give you hints and tricks.
