Sorry, I'm with @brihard on this one. He's a gun smuggler who has embarrassed the CAF, betrayed his commission and cast a bad light on all lawful gun owners.
If the CAF retains him (doubtful) his usefulness is seriously impaired.
Some fresh social media posts today are talking about a possible cabinet shuffle. Some Liberal insiders believes that Nathalie Provost has been "underused" in her current portfolio. Read into that what you want, but it's likely not good.
I didn't take a detailed look at this legislation yet, but at first blush there appears to be come overlap with existing Crim Code offences such as using an imitation firearm (s. 85) and possession for a dangerous purpose (s. 88). More later after work.
Saw this setup at work a couple of weeks ago. I'm not a big fan of Glocks but the 45 is the first one I've shot that I didn't hate.
As for the CAF coming on board, that ship has sailed. CBSA or other armed federal agencies (fish cops, game wardens, rail cops) could jump on board.
Without a LOT of practice, it's often hard to get an accurate first shot at distance with a DA/SA. Sometimes one shot is all you get. Most coppers don't practice as much as they should/could so the simpler a duty firearm is to shoot, the better.
So had I until my driver from that deployment arrived at our College as a recruit about 7 years ago. While undergoing UoF training he brought up those scenarios during conversations with me.
Some of those scenarios were dumb as hell. "Population Encounters - How to deal with civilians." 50 % of his TF were P Res who were "civilians" only a short few days prior.
The most challenging part of that deployment was the Commander and his daily dress state directives. No dark lenses...
During the G8/G20 conference in 2010, the ROE were updated and redistributed almost daily. In one instance, an updated ROE card was issued with a glaring omission allowing soldiers to go from presence and verbal intervention to lethal force in a heartbeat as several paragraphs were dropped...
I just stumbled across this necrothread. @SupersonicMax I'm constantly in awe of the quality of people on these forums and their willingness and ability to share detailed and relevant information with other posters. Congratulations on an amazing career from a guy who ended up in the Infantry...
According to the US Naval Institute, parts of the Chinese fishing fleet operate as a state-sanctioned maritime militia—often referred to as the People’s Armed Force Maritime Militia (PAFMM)—which acts under the command of the People's Liberation Army (PLA). While not part of the formal PLAN...
When you're the "leader of the free world" there is an implied responsibility to keep yourself healthy enough to actually fulfil that role.
It's not like he'd listen to his doctors anyways.
I've been in IPSC for about a decade (RO as well). Because my club is outdoor I do a lot of dry fire during the off season.
Here in the Ottawa, Kingston, Montreal area most CAF IPSC shooters are either from CANSOF or P Res units. Haven't shot much IDPA over the past couple of years so I can't...
It's also a risk mitigation by HQ to lessen the chance of an ND as the people who generally (while I was in) carried a pistol did so more out of convenience and wanting to be "that LCF dude" than out of need.
I've always been pretty skilled with a pistol, and I own a Browning HP. But, like...
In most cases, the way our ROE are written, drawing to point and racking to chamber a round were seen as an escalation step demonstrating our resolve and intent to use deadly force.
I don't know how it is with the C22/C24 training, but before I got out (2018) the Army sucked at pistol training...
This!
Plus this is Canada where you need to wear gloves for at least 5 months of the year.
I'm a professional firearms instructor with a large federal agency. We're in the process of selecting a new pistol and I had to demonstrate to some bean counters just how hard it is to disengage a...
For those with TLDR, a CAF MP MWO is suing over an alleged defect in the C22 pistol that cause him a career-ending injury.
