Senior leaders at the CDS level don’t do media interviews without significant media preparation. I am sure she spent at least 3-4 hours with her PAO staff going over possible questions and responses along with rehearsing her message to ensure she could get it hammered home.
The fact that it’s...
During the GWOT era the CAFs own statistics showed we recruited in the 6500 to 6800 personnel a year which resulted in actual growth of around 150-200 pers a year.
https://globalnews.ca/news/11229064/canadian-military-meets-2025-recrutiment-goal/
I would be more interested in seeing what the total CAF increase is for the year.
We recruited 7000 but how many personnel did the CAF increase by? It’s not 7000, I would guess it is less than 300 once you...
I’m curious to see if the DICE stuff will feature a dedicated IFAK pouch.
I don’t remember the ISSP vests, Gen 1 or 2 having one but I may be misremembering.
Agreed, as cool as C6 indirect fire is, it’s actual utility for current forces is marginal to zero.
Having seen a fair bit of GPMG use this year,I have been mulling over a few thoughts.
First, given the fact that the C6 now has a pic rail on the feed cover, should we in fact be employing a...
The CAF has CMERT. It’s a good MEDEVAC capability but realistically very small.
Good background here:

There is a common trend on display within this article posted earlier. In the last year we have seen Colt Canada, GDLS Canada, SeaSpan all expressing the same concern. They all needed firm...
https://www.ctvnews.ca/saskatoon/article/active-wildfires-in-saskatchewan-surpass-25-evacuations-ordered-near-la-ronge/
An interesting aspect to the fires in Saskatchewan and Manitoba is that right now almost all of 3rd Division’s forces are otherwise engaged supporting the G7.
Any...
At this point I think it’s over 80% probable that we will concurrently stand up a light infantry regiment with all three LiBs and divest all the M777s in favour of SP 155mm and rockets.
What exactly will provide fire support to the LiBs is a great question. I suspect the answer is that they...
If only it could be grasped that Infantry in the Armoured Bde need different systems than the Infantry in a light airmobile Bde.
Ignoring all the evidence of TBI with the 120mm systems is just dumb. It will cost us more long term likely than the cost of an automated system.
So the CA modernizing in 2025 looks like adopting a 2009 vintage Gen 1 product when the force initially deploying the product is on its 5th generation.
Excuse me while I either laugh or cry. I don’t know which is more appropriate. 😂
Having run belt kits in LAVs, Humvees, G Wagons, various civ pattern stuff I have to disagree, it’s not ideal and there are better options.
There is a difference as well between running a minimal gun belt and a full up belt kit while mounted.
Each to their own, I suppose.
I don’t know, while it’s better than the TacVest, I can’t help but feel that this is still 10-15 years behind where the load bearing equipment is right now, especially plate carriers.
Honestly I would rather we just went with coyote brown vs CADPAT MT. Coyote Brown would allow for use of COTS...
I am quite certain we cannot. Part of Rafael’s deal with Euro Spike is that Rafael only allows EuroSpike to sell within Europe. The rest of the world has to go through Rafael proper.
If you listen to the PMs interview on defence in relation to Europe and his comments on 1 July, I don’t think he is actually talking about procurement for the CAF.
His words are specifically about increasing our integration into the European military industrial complex. That doesn’t mean CAF...
I wonder how many the order is for. It’s good it’s coming with the FCD 558. Hopefully we procure the full range of modern munitions to go with the FCD.
