We're somewhat in the same boat, as I'm sure many other corps can attest to.  The old prerequisite for Sergeant was Silver Star though so we're trying to make that the bare minimum and using Acting ranks as required.

I have no problem with snack food .... this was prepared for them immeadiatly after they got off the bus and arrived at the camp, that I felt was a bit extreme.

With us it's typically IMPs, box lunches (usually only when travelling), and hayboxes. I think thats all that is really necessary.  I stopped in to see another corps (on advance party) that was staying at Blackdown and they had snack foods out for when their cadets arrived .... items like...

Where did you get this information about Paul taking a commission as a Captain if I may ask? I believe the video your speaking of was put on a CD with other pictures and such that all the A Coy staff got, I'm pretty sure I still have the video on my computer somewhere.

Gold Star and CL.  I've seen a RSM with Gold and CL as well (CWO).

I think band serves as an exception to the normal policy .... as the primary focus of training is music.  Air and Sea Cadets now attend Blackdown for the band courses, however the training plans are still that of the Army Cadet Course.  This caused a few problems last summer in the non-music...

My corps (along with 5 other corps) used the entire march break to develop our NCOs in their abilities as leaders.  I tried as best I could to sit down 1 on 1 with the cadets and try to assist them with their training.

He/she could probably teach me a thing or two about leadership {!}.

If your from the Petawawa corps I believe I had one of your cadets in my platoon, he seemed displeased when he was told to remove his mock tower wings, as they are not authorized for wear.

Thats basically why I told him not to hold his breath .... so far I'm the only one in my corps that has a staff offer, so he amy not even end up at Vernon.

I won't say where that crazy idea came from ..... Upon returning to LHQ, he was back to his rank of Trooper (Pte) .... so he had to adjust to a role of much less responsibility .... I think that may have had something to do with it.  There's usually one CL company that has most of the ONT Rs...

Two of my former cadets were course cadet MCpls in F Coy, although one lost his appointment.  Ironmonger and Hakonson-Brown. Ironmonger is no longer in cadets, and Hakonson-Brown moved and transferred to another corps, so neither of them are my cadets now.
