Vision Questions Megathread, Categories, Problems etc.

Curious to know what the Night Vision (not the kind that takes batteries) requirment is for the CF? It is not listed on the Vision Catagory as a criteria, but it is listed on the LASIK/PRK (Refractive Surgery) post op form. More specifically, I am curious to know if recruits who go through with...

Army Communication & Information Systems Specialists (Sig Op, Lineman and LCIS Amalgamation)

Funny... I applied last July and will be Merit listed for my trade as of April 22nd. (My application's pending until then due to LASIK wait times), and every time I've been in contact with the RC, they have referred to my trade as "Sig Op" and not ACISS. I've even slipped a few ACISS references...

Guys, I really need some advice about joining. Badly.

Hey Waters81, just a thought.... you said you were in the construction biz yeah? If you're looking for volunteer work, maybe a "Habitat for humanity" type build would be a good match for your experience. I've definitely seen stuff like that in the past. I would imagine that that's gotta look...

When will the CF be hiring again?

Fair enough. But I leave it to the individual to use his/her own discretion on that matter. As for the spelling.... my mistake, I can't type without looking at the keyboard.... it's a work in progress.  :-*

When will the CF be hiring again?

My advice, cosy up to someone at your local recruiting centre. Strike a report with these people and you're more likely to be remembered when the time comes. Squeaky wheel gets the grease

Pocket-sized 'hummingbird' drone aims to flutter into enemy territory

Dan Brown scooped all you guys on this in "Deception Point" back in 2001. In his book Rogue SF use a Nano-insect drone to spy on scientists in the arctic circle.  ;D

Guys, I really need some advice about joining. Badly.

Well first off, as a former fellow semi-blind menber of the human race, get yer eyes fixed. Some may think that that is a medically irresponsible thing for me to say, since I am not you. But let me tell you.... my eyes were -7.5 and -8.25 and know Im 20/20. It always held me back... but not...

Hearing (Merged) Including Hearing Tests and Hearing Categories

I have a diploma in Sound Engineering and the first they tell you is to go get your hearing checked.... and then to keep getting it checked on regular intervals, as in that profession, your ears are your bread and butter. Needless to say, I've been through quite a few hearing tests, including...

The Legality of Self Defence In Canada

With a population of 380 mil + vs. our 34 (ish) mil,  they still have long way to go I would think. Unless your talking on a per capita rate. As for CCW and all of that.... meh. Its Canada. Say what you want, its still a "safe" place to live. I've lived in a lot of S&@% holes and it makes me...

    Search and Rescue Sig Ops?

Ah... I was think that this would be the case, as I can't recall ever seeing a Sig with SAR personnel. Thought I'd ask anyway. Thanks.

    Search and Rescue Sig Ops?

I was wondering what roles a Sig Op might play working with SAR. More to the point, are they attached as support staff like they are with the Infantry and CSOR or are they basically SAR tech's who are qualified as Sig ops? And if Sig ops are "attached" to SAR, are they drawn specifically from...
