if it's anything like what the collins project was i hope they learnt there lessons and make sure that in that contract it allows for upgrades due to technology as getting stuck with something 15-20 years old after signing the contract won't be a good thing. from my experience with the collins...
you'll have to check with your OR. if you fall into an area where there is PLD and meet the requirements then you should be entitled to it. i fought with it when i was in Montreal as meni0n mentioned but it does work out and you should receive a nice back pay amount
funny i was talking with some people here asking the same question for Canadians awarded the VC. From my teachings way back in the aussie recruit school system this was the practice to show marks of respect to a hero recognised by the country, further more naval gate sentries would salute the...
i have been lucky enough to experience a few countries messing arrangments such as the U.S, Australia, Indonesia and here in Canada. Believe me although sometimes the meals aren't of a outstanding quality and you may spend some time in a line to eat it could be worse. i've had to drink milk out...
Otama was one of the may O boats i spent time on. last i heard they wanted it for a maritime museum display in westernport in Victoria, Australia but they fell short on funding so there looking for a private sponsor to get it up and running. they have a few more of these museum pieces around...
just managed to get a hold of armed assault for Christmas, not a bad game a mix of americas army, BF2 and COD but alot harder. i still can`t fly properly yet. haven`t tried it online to see how much difference it makes
i hope that it goes alot smoother for you than what it did for me transfering from the Australian Navy. There are alot of hurdles but so far it`s been worth it. i`m still complaining so i guess i`m happy
personally for me wearing of ancestors medals for remembrance day should be allowed. as pointed out by Wes if you wear them in the correct position on the right to show respect for a deceased family member there shouldn't`t be a problem. on the other hand, wear them on the left when they are not...
i have to admit i find this pretty amusing, last time i was speaking with some old buddies in the navy there they were having enough problems crewing 3
thats what i had for dinner last night, the wife likes aussie cooking so every now and again i`ll whip up something. already pre made a meat pie for dinner tonight
i always remember christmas time being dead we`d enter a reduced activy period for a period of about 1.5 months and have limited people on duty. our sub was locked up connected to the wharf via a LAN and could be accessed from outside rather than stay on board as duty watch. as for shore...
for me personally i work in english only because basically i butcher the french language (although i butcher the english language as well, guess that has to do with the aussie accent). if i have to speak french it`s slow and bad but i can sometimes get a point across with pointing and pictures...
my daughter was told by her teacher in primary school that she could not wear a poppy. ok i admit it she`s 7 and the pin might be dangerous but i didn`t think it was a good call on the schools behalf. oh yeah and it was in montreal
on 2 occasions i`ve been at sea on subs i`ve seen the halon system mailfunction and dump everywhere. nothing like a mad scramble the the emergency breathing system after. it`s sad to see that this is the 2nd accident in only recent years with the kursk being the other, and after this we were...
as an anglo myself in montreal i can tell you that during parades there is a short delay from what others do to what i do because of the language, although some of the commands always catch me out. but you do get to practice before so it`s not quite so noticable.
