It depends a lot on the course staff, we got our stuff back after indoc in week 4 and we could use it as soon as we were finished training for the day, but it couldn't leave the floor.
The platoon who started a few weeks behind us got to keep their electronics the whole time, even during indoc...
If you are married and/or have dependants you will not pay R&Q's, on the reasoning that you are already paying rent/mortgage, and you have a family to support.
We had a guy like that in our platoon, our sergeant kept telling him "Get a dessert, and put butter on it! Better yet, get TWO desserts!" ;D
All seriousness though, if you want to gain muscle mass, you have to train in 'hypertrophy' meaning 3-4 sets of around 12 reps with about 80% of your max...
I don't have any 'official' references, however that is what I was told by the clerks, and comparing my pay statement to the 2009 pay scale seems to confirm that is in fact the case. It was the same for most of my platoon, we started off at 2Lt - pay level C - increment 1 (or higher for some...
Also true, my platoon had 3 people promoted right to Lt. (two MPO's and a Hospital Admin), as well as three legal officers who went right to Capt.
Having to salute former classmates was a bit of a twist, but that's the way the game plays :salute:
Yes you are commissioned and promoted when you finish BMOQ, but your seniority date and your pay are retroactive to your enrollment date, hence you get paid as a 2Lt while you are doing your BMOQ.
We had a guy on my platoon who was 47, and he was in better shape than a lot of the 20 year olds, so it can definitely be done, you just have to put in the effort.
Best of luck in 2010!
Too true Celticgirl, the plank is a great one for people to do at home, I can remember spending a lot of time doing it in St. Jean as well.
One thing to keep in mind, as all staff have and will surely point out: always maintain good form! If you can only hold good form in the plank for 15...
First of all: relax! The CFAT is not that difficult, and you are not very likely to "fail."
Secondly, it's not testing your studying, it's testing your aptitude; if you don't have an aptitude for doing word problems, it's probably not something you can cram for and learn the day before the...
As the old saying goes, you don't have any chance until you apply...
You might want to talk to your local CFRC, as a bunch of people on my platoon applied to be a pilot, but they had to choose another trade because pilot was "closed."
Also: Welcome to Milnet.ca!
All I can say is I wish I'd had my little folding knife when I was in Farnham, it would have made opening the IMP's so much easier, among other things... At the very least make sure at least one person in your section has a multi tool, and a pair of scissors.
If you are not going to do them because you think they are "too hard," you will be in for a big surprise when (if) you get on BMQ.
The things that are hard are usually the ones most worth doing.
