...failures tend to be one of two things 1. Safety, or 2. problem solving/fault finding which tends to be an issue with spatial/cognitive awareness for picturing the cycle of operating in your mind and understanding how it works quickly. CFAT can help with find candidtes who in theory grasp it...
...recruits as this years numbers for SIP, which is 3000 more than what we just did. It's going to be a very heavy lift for everyone involved.
In CFAT's case, decades of data that follows pers through their initial trades training. CFAT was in effect for over 30 years. They would adjust it...
PSO are not responsible for numbers in recruiting. They are only a resources for the Mil Career Counsellors and CO's to use. SME in policy and regulations for recruiting. The implementation of the policy falls to MCC's and the CO's.
Quantity or quality? Anecdotally a lot of training failures on RQ Pte/DP1 because of the CFAT loss.
Recruiting will also go up once the economy takes a crap, which is has and we're paying Privates $52K to $60K a year now.
...with a grade eleven in every province except Ontario where you needed grade 12. (Go figure - I guess we were all slow learners)
We had no CFAT for NCMs and we still had some good folks turned out although only about a dozen of the fifty some odd folks I took SSEP training with in the summer...
On CFAT issue. There is an interesting situation I observed. There was one gentleman I know of, who failed to qualify for infantry on his CFAT (Thats possible?) and had to enroll as a cook. He reluctantly did, finished basic (did very well) and released as he did not want to be a cook.
This...
Meh PRs and lack of CFATs aren’t the issue. The fact we think we need to pass 100% of recruits is.
I am all for a heavy culling during recruit training for unsuitable candidates, we do a disservice by pushing to pass everyone even when it is obvious they don’t belong.
Most jobs have a 3-6...
@FJAG You need a grade 10, medical, and a FORCE test.
The CFAT has been dropped. The problem is that now you get people who would have failed the CFAT for cook, infantry, and other low scoring trades. To be blunt, these people are stupid, and it's no fun having people who can't read try to...
The real question is what is the CFAT (and other ‘aptitude’ tests) actually based off of?
Seems to me like someone just decided arbitrarily where the line in the sand should be drawn even though I have met people who can do those jobs without said ‘aptitude’. Clearly it isn’t a be all to end...
The folks who are screened out are "interesting". The CAF has lots of data about what happens when folks who meet the bare minimums are recruited - surprise, it results it lots of pre OFP releases and an above average number of administrative and disciplinary issues. Waiving even that minimum...
The longer you wait to recruit people, the more likely the best candidates will go elsewhere. Risk adverse slow recruiting doesn't necessarily result in the best case for the CAF either.
Root out the worst quick and move on, the CAF chooses to make this big production out of recruiting and...
I run a reserve infantry PAT platoon and while this is generally accurate we are finding that "those troops" are being weeded out by our Tuesday parade routine and BMQ. There's only a small handful of "those troops" who've made it through to the fighting company and once there they're at least...
Hi all , I did my cfat in the past , my plan was to be a pilot (10yesrs ago) .. I have never entered finally but as was applying for big dream. I did my best and well got an excellent result .
Today I don’t want the big job anymore and think to go as boatswain or mobile support driver .. maybe...
according the CFLRS commandant on Twitter, pass rate is about 90% for the FORCE test, Candidates do get a second shot if the fail as well after 24h, CFAT is gone now and been replaced.
