Are we talking the mechanical accuracy of the rifle / ammunition combination at 500m equalling 45cm or the PWT grouping standard expected is 45cm at 500m?
If it’s the PWT that’s a significant departure from the last several PWT variations where past 200m it was only points for hits anywhere on...
I had not heard that yet. I will be interested to see that PWT and the work up to 500m.
Although the terminal ballistics may enable kinetic effect and the external ballistics may reduce trajectory holds and windage deviations, it will still require the shooters to be able to hold on target...
Not a good one, and the more I dig the more suspect it looks. I was initially thinking of the 2014 Zabrodskyi’s Raid by the 95th Bde with about 170km of travel behind insurgent/Russian lines. At the time it was equated to Stonewall Jackson type raiding deep operations. However the actual...
Perhaps of relevance as well. I am not super super well versed on the UK Recce Strike concept and the language can get confusing at times, but reusing this image of the Ukrainian Battlefield geography.
3rd Deep Recce Strike
Physically resides on or behind the FLOT
Functionally it SENSES into...
Its interesting though that the US/UK/NATO conception of Deep Operations that emerged out of the US Army Air Land Battle doctrine in the 1980s had its predecessor in the Soviet Union's development of Deep Operations in the 1930s and during WW2. The Soviet conception though was much more...
When thinking about how Division Cav fits into the battlefield framework of deep, close, and rear, perhaps its useful to not consider any of them as purely isolated from one another.
The Deep for example has a gray zone where it transitions to the close area. In some doctrine references this...
Hopefully we get to a system where we are linked across the joint force with all sensors feeding into the system and tgts being able to be forwarded and accepted.
DACAS is a step in the right direction but only one aspect.
Hopefully the CA hyper accelerates this program as every year it waits...
I wonder if the CA is planning to configure the HIMARS such that they can receive targeting data directly by tactical data link from any of the other joint platforms such as the P8s, River Class, Sky Guardian, Global Eye etc.
Those TDL links will be key for employing the PrSM especially in a...
It will be interesting to see how the Canadian Army programs more GMLRS purchases and if we do so on a yearly reoccurring basis.
The GMLRS buy as part of this deal is 1968 and then 64 ATACMS.
That translates to around 600-1000 tgts able to be serviced by GMLRS, and 64 by ATACMS.
It seems...
Looks like the Pentagon wants to see a detailed military plan for spending 3.5% to go with the political posturing from Canada.

That’s what I was tracking as well and that may still be a plan but it’s interesting that the Army has not decided to make the incoming Comd of 2nd Div a MGen. BGen Harvey is remaining as a BGen as per CANFORGEN 85/26.
I am curious why if the structure was calling for a MGen? No DCGs for 2XX...
The latest CANFORGEN with the GOFO appointments is interesting.
1st Canadian Division ( the new regular force manoeuvre Div) will have a MGen and two BGens.
2nd Canadian Division ( the reserve Division) will have a single BGen.
Here is the Royal Canadian Artillery Corps plan.

It would make sense I think to in the near future create a second field artillery Bde for the Defence of Canada by taking one of the CBGs and making it the 2nd...
This is what the RCMP has selected as their pistol.
Speaks to what an organization for whom the pistol is a primary selects.
Economy of scale would have been interesting if the CAF, CBSA etc had all been grouped into this .
Colt Optics has now publicly released their initial optics line up. Interestingly no 1-6 LPVO mentioned at all, only 1-8. Either Canada has decided to contract a Canadian only bespoke optic or the CAF releases had an error.
Details on their website: VMR 1-8x28 - Colt Optics
Press release...
I’m not sure this component of the Colt CZ Group is Canadian, I believe a lot of its key players are American. The CEO was the CEO previously of EOTECH.
This is an example of their product although this LPVO is 1-8 not 1-6.
