The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Or people get too wrapped up in the idea of a plane being built here that they miss the forest for the trees, namely that a limited run of final assembly doesn't give us a domestic industry. No, we're continually stuck with old equipment because we don't replace it in time, and almost always...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

There is no "pending agreement", us choosing the Gripen is all just speculation and conjecture. Same with Ukraine purchasing it, they haven't made an actual decision yet. Saab's promises to us are the same as Brazil, and that worked out as final assembly, not full scale production.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Shipping over parts for final assembly is not the same as building a ship from the keel up. Which isn't what Saab is offering. Saab is making the same promises they made to Brazil of thousands of jobs, which in the end turned out to be final assembly of parts kits made in Sweden, with less...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Because Saab doesn't have a sixth gen program of their own. They are in talks with Airbus to start one after the collapse of FCAS. F-16 production ended in 2017. Anyone buying any at this point is buying used (which is the point of the Gripen, it's an alternative to the F-16 for countries that...

    New Canadian Shipbuilding Strategy

Since it's a non-combatant support vessel, would it be possible to integrate coast guard into the crew? Rescuing vessels is what the coast guard does.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

That's a fairly normal availability rate. Also "fully mission capable" is not the same "mission capable" or even flyable. There's also over 1,200 F-35s in service with over a million flights hours. There is barely a dozen Gripen Es, with none fully operational. Other sources report the USAF...

    Continental Defence Corvette

Since our last corvettes, the Flower and Castle classes, were all over the place with hull numbers, being in the 100, 200, 300 and 400 sequence, maybe we could start at K100. Or maybe continue from a previous class like Halifax, which would be K342, or Kingston, which would be K712.
