    Progress in the Army

GO, I would be interest to find out where this glut of Captains are, because my unit is short, the Regiment is short and I'm pretty sure most other trades out there could use and find effective employment for trained captains. In fact that rank is what retains the structure of the army, filling...

    The Home Station

Old Sweat, roger out... I should have stated that better: "There has been somewhat of an Artillery presence off and on since 1905." Gunner98, I'm sure some one of those more important people had a very good reason to put the Home Station in Shilo, I will even buy the answer "it had to be...

    The Home Station

So lets change it, the Guns have been in Petawawa since 1905. And Kingston is the traditional home to the Regular Artillery....No one can provide a really substantial reason, in my humble opinion, why Shilo stands apart of from the other locations. In fact, correct me if I'm wrong but the Base...

    Skyhawk Wings and Berets

If you read the biographies, the majority of those wearing the Maroon Beret were/are posted to the CPC, where they are authorized to wear the Maroon Beret. I would be curious on the white/red wings status...

I can imagine that, Wpns techs dispersing to every small town park in Canada

    The Home Station

If that simply a function of it being already the home station, because RHQ is like 10 people, right, and we could realistically put that anywhere. Further Question, was the museum in Shilo always a strictly an Artillery one?

    The Gagetown Thread- Merged

From what I remember, most weekends are free however, you are in the field most of the rest of the time. Somewhere around 200 days+ a year...more bullets than you will ever see in a Regiment, but less of the tactics(co-operation with the supported arms)

    Proper protocol for Officer Cadets

I don't remember the phase 3 Inf Regular guys getting badged until after phase 4, prior to 2001. They may have known where they were going, but then again I can't speak on anything prior to 1993 or after 2000.

    The Home Station

George, I could better understand the Citadel in Quebec or Louisbourg as these are very historical Artillery locations. And Old Sweat I guess there isn't something that I'm missing about the selection of Shilo as the home station.

    The Home Station

Shilo as the home station.. can anyone tell me how Shilo was named as the home station of the Royal Regiment. I mean I have read all the applicable historical reasons, but none stand out as anything special. In addition, wouldn't the new Regimental museum be better placed in a place where some...

    Proper protocol for Officer Cadets

Mark C, Although your point is very well stated, I don't think that I agree. What is the difference between an OCdt phase 3 qualified and an OCdt Phase 4. A couple of skill sets added, a couple of months experience and a nice parade. That same officer must still learn all the dealing with...

want to hear about your PMQ marchout horror stories

3 PMQs and no problems... I think they are much easier since the are done by CFHA and not CE, but that's just a guess

    Alternate for the CIC

Ok, kinda off topic..but I thought I would mention it. Today at some community event, the local army cadets were employed in traffic control, and even though they looked to be youngest of the lot they were doing quite well in the cold rainy weather. When  I was walking from my car I noticed that...

    food in your cadets

You may not be aware- some echelons have a flying kitchens, where they, surprise surprise cook the food. If you are being specific to your unit, then say so, because you sounded, mmmmm less informed when you make a generic statement like that.
